My speedo gear box output shaft broke at the wheel (not the cable) because I reassembled the wheel with the gearbox anti-rotate dog on the wrong side of the rotation, requires new gearbox to fix. Have you had the front wheel off lately?

Standard, front wheel has not been off.

Needle stays at "0" mph and odometer and trip odometer not moving.  Stopped during the ride.

Yep, if its a STD or Tour then it may well be the cable.. If you raise the front and spin the front wheel you could tell the problem when the cable is removed,, does the drive work/spin?? If so, is inner cable free and does it spin easily?? Remove the upper end from speedo and see if the upper end spins while you spin the lower end..

This was a very timely post.  Had my tourer speedometer lay down and die, and I came right here for info to find this an almost new post.  I found a broken cable yesterday and eventually found a new one in OKC today about noon.  This is a great place for info.  Oh yes, the OEM part #'s are (44830-MAH-000 for the housing & cable combination) & (44831-MAH-000 for the cable only)...JTL
