I went through a rough year, I lost my big brother who meant everything to me. I was very depressed and went soul searching. I have another brother and a sister, but My brother John and i were very close and grew up doing everything together and lived very close to each other. He lived in our family home that we grew up in. After he passed i was left in charge to clean his house and sale everything to pay his bills. I sold all his things and settled his bills, Dad bought his house and he helped me get the house ready to rent. I was so sad there trying to get over the lose of him and working on the home place. When we were done there was a young couple wanting to rent the house and they had three kids, it was like a light came on in my head watching those kids playing in the yard like my brother and i had once done. It made  everything seem ok and made me understand more about the life cycle. I also was very sick and sold my Valkyrie, It paid alot of my med. bills. I kept the Harley and have kept riding, but i sure miss the Valkyrie and have decided to buy another one. I started my search and have located a couple of 1997 Valkyries that will make me happy. I am still shopping but hope to bring one home soon.

Sorry about your brother. Sounds like you had a great Ah-Ha moment. Hope you get a real bargain to continue life!

Know how you feel.  Lost my little brother a couple of years ago.  Still almost tear up at times.  He could have seen his new twin grandsons (first grandkids) a few months ago, if he had lived.

Glad to hear things are getting better for you

Things are better, but i still feel very empty inside and miss him everyday. Its just not the same without him in my life. Things don't mean as much to me now. I am still bitter but i do understand more about life. I am Fifty one and its ok to cry, i used to think it showed weakness. But now i know it helps. Sorry to hear about your little brother.

Hang in there man.  I have 4 siblings.  8, 11 16 and 17 years my elder.   It almost seem inevitable that I'll lose many or all of them.

The oldest brother was more like a dad to me.  The younger brother lives with me now... and helps a lot with my 3 year old son.  I am not as close to my sisters, but they are still family.

I am not looking forward to it.

In your situation... you'll learn to live life again.  Enjoy your brothers kids, and grand kids, and remember him thru them.  Be the Grandpa to them, he couldn't be.  IMO it's the best gift you can give him now.

You have my sincere condolences.

If you want to ride sometime... give a shout.  If you're ever in Indy for anything... I'll buy you lunch!

Well Gostrider your post touched me in a way that has prompted me to post. We all deal with this sort of thing in a different way. My older Brother got the cancer bug that took him and left me soul searching also. He had a good job and did alot of things he wanted to do here on earth. He used to say you never know how long you got so you need to do what you want now. Myself (and the Wife) on the other hand sacrificed alot bought and paid for some real estate along the way. After his passing those words kept ringing in my ears and how much more sense they made. It's been 8 years now and I still feel his presence even as I write. I quit my job and have traveled to Alaska in an R.V., flew to hawaii, made it to Key West Florida, and the wife and I will be leaving next week for our 5th winter season riding quads in the Arizona desert. To say his passing was a life changing experience for me is an understatement. Oh yes I bought a Valkyrie a couple years ago to help fulfill my bucket list. I ride with his old beat up helmet (we have helmet laws in Washington) just so he gets to go. I went through the stage of why him and not me as I was the wild one in years past. For me I live alot of my life in his legacy and that has worked well for me. Hang in there Bro and if you get this way we will share some wind. In the summer of course. Blister

Very sorry for your loss.  It's good to see that you have seen the light at the end of the tunnel though.  Good luck in your Valkyrie hunt!

Joe's Bike is really top notch with just about everything a man could ask for on a Valk.
