So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

Covington, TN

« on: October 10, 2010, 11:57:30 AM »

Hopefully someone here can assist me in tracking this problem down.

Last night about 10:00 PM, headed down a lonely two lane (curvy/hilly) road, my entire headlight/driving lights went dark.  Needless to say, this got my attention.  Managed to safely get to the edge of the road but there was no where to get off on the shoulder.  My turnsignals and rear lighting were fine but, no headlight or driving lights.  Made for a scary trip home because it was dark as hell and there were no side or center lane stripes to help mark the road.  Regardless, I made it home safely, about three miles.

Now, I figure I've got a short somewhere or a blown fuse, I assume there is a fuse in the wiring somewhere but don't have clue as to where to start looking.  Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you have additional driving lights on the bike.

If so, start at the added lights and go backwards towards the power source.

If you do no find a relay in there, add one and then go look under the right side cover for a blown fuse.

Don't go to the blown fuse 1st as then you won't go looking for the relay that is needed.     99% of the driving lights when they are 1st put on, by someone other than a mechanic, they do not know how to  use a relay and they just don't seem to get added......

cooldude  Thanks for the reply, the driving lights are Kuryakyn and I had them installed by my local Honda dealership.  I'll do as you suggest.
