After 2 1/2 years of having a hernia  uglystupid2 I finally got round to having it sorted.  cooldude

I went into hospital at 11:30 yesterday morning, had the op at 2:10 pm and they let me home at 8:30 last night.  cooldude

Hopefully I wont get any more problems with it as the last few months it got a bit worse, but the thought of not riding my Valkyrie for a few weeks made it worth the wait.  Wink

How long are you supposed to be laid up?  I have to schedule surgery for mine by the beginning of December.  Figure I might as well be off for the holidays.....

that's funny, november first i'm going in for one on my belly button.  doesn't hurt as bad as  the one on my side did, but still, it happened at work, so it's better to let them pay for it then to pay for it myself.  i hate surgery though.

actually what the worst part is that the pain pills they give you make you constipated, and everytime i would go to the bathroom it would kill to push down!

I'm out for 4 to 6 weeks by that time the cold weather would have set in over here .I can't ride in the cold anyway.

The company that I work for are pretty good about it too, when I eventually get back to work I will only be working half days, with a full pay,for about two weeks  cooldude

for the constipation, go to the drugstore and buy an over-the-counter stool softner.
take one with each pain pill. works great

I have one I need to get to get taken care of.   I keep putting it off, but it is getting worse.   Work related, but I am a contractor for the most part...so I am screwed!!!

The thought of being cut on kinda bothers me...glad to hear it went well!!    cooldude

Jess,I don't know what you do for a living but in the UK if a doctor says you are not fit for work you don't go.The company insurance will not cover you.
I can't do what I'm supposed to,I am a Quality Inspector for Lotus Cars and have to climb in and out of tiny sportscars, bear in mind I am 6ft tall and weigh in at 230lb,here's a pic to show how small these cars are. This is a "special" one that we made a while back,

NC,
I was aprehensive too about being cut open,I must say,the hospital staff were great. When I arrived I was taken to my private room and sat there watching the TV,a nurse came in and filled a ton of paperwork out, the anetheatist came in and spoke to me,shortly after the surgeon came and had a word. Before I knew it I was wearing stockings and a pair of paper underpaints Shocked being pushed away on a bed.
Two minutes later small scratch in the back of the hand and ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,goodnight Vienna.Woke up an hour later to the sweet face of my good lady.
The nurses then made me a pot of coffee and a chicken sandwich and a couple of hours later I was on my way home.
I don't know of the procedure  your side of the pond but all I would sday is get it done..The longer you leave it and the worse it gets mean the bigger the surgery and longer off work.
