Jess,I don't know what you do for a living but in the UK if a doctor says you are not fit for work you don't go.The company insurance will not cover you.
I can't do what I'm supposed to,I am a Quality Inspector for Lotus Cars and have to climb in and out of tiny sportscars, bear in mind I am 6ft tall and weigh in at 230lb,here's a pic to show how small these cars are. This is a "special" one that we made a while back,

NC,
I was aprehensive too about being cut open,I must say,the hospital staff were great. When I arrived I was taken to my private room and sat there watching the TV,a nurse came in and filled a ton of paperwork out, the anetheatist came in and spoke to me,shortly after the surgeon came and had a word. Before I knew it I was wearing stockings and a pair of paper underpaints

being pushed away on a bed.
Two minutes later small scratch in the back of the hand and ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,goodnight Vienna.Woke up an hour later to the sweet face of my good lady.
The nurses then made me a pot of coffee and a chicken sandwich and a couple of hours later I was on my way home.
I don't know of the procedure your side of the pond but all I would sday is get it done..The longer you leave it and the worse it gets mean the bigger the surgery and longer off work.
