The last couple of years I worked for Motorola I'd sing/humm Jimmy Buffett's tune: Pacing the Cage. Now I drive a school bus and have 8 weeks off in the summer to travel.

A co worker told me this story today of a guy he worked with in the plant that was hourly and then moved up to a salary position. When he was hourly, he missed a lot of time, usually only working 3 days a week. His supervisor finally asked him why he only worked 3 days a week, his reply was "because I can't make it on two."

work is a lot more enjoyable when you don't have kids. i would give anything to be a stay at home dad (papa in my case). these women that complain that they don't get paid enough to be a stay at home mom should have to go to work and let the husband raise the kids!! i have two sister-in-laws that stay home and don't do squat. the funny thing is, they go out for dinner nearly every night!! go figure.

The last 59 years of my working is a "BLUR" kinda fuzzy. I don`t go there very often. I do know I worked too hard and too long and missed a lot of things in life that you need to enjoy. Ten to twelve hours a day and sometimes seven days a week is a little much. BUT, I made MILLIONS of $$$$ for the folks I worked for. I did have enought sence to go to work for "ME" then it turned into 100 hrs. a week.

It helps if you like what you do. I love to drive, I like people. 2 years ago I started driving for the city transit system and it doesn't really feel like WORK. With lots of time for riding and lots of overtime in the off-season to buy bike toys... Fred.

I drive a forklift and CDL. I have down time where they dont want to see me, kinda like VRCC time. I call it going to day-care and I love it and consider it a blessing, going to daycare and playing with cars and trucks.

That used to sum it up. After the 2008 crash, I now have to work 65 years to retire!! I am half way there!
