The end of July mom totaled her car.

We bought her a new Toyota Highlander.

Well ole buckwheat here was the 1st one to ding it up.

Under 2,000 miles on it also.

I took it today to get the license plates changed over to my new Purple Heart plates for it.

Got home, well since it is tight in the garage with her vehicle and my big Ram, I figured I'd back it in, mainly so I could get out of it.

I've backed every vehicle we ever had in that garage on that side.

Toyota Highlander does not have a trunk on it, it has a tall side that extends to the rear with a lift gate.

Ya gettin the picture yet?    I also have a cabinet hanging on the wall on that side.    Yup, backed into the cabinet, I put it up so it is well attached, it never moved any.      I was watching the wall, I wasn't looking at the upper part of the car.

Also have a rather large swirl opening for the floor drain.  A tire will kind of get caught in there.  When the cabinet touched the gate glass, the front wheel went into the drain opening.   Gave it a little gas to come up out of the drain, didn't want to move, so I gave it some more gas, boom.    It reminded me of the 1st time I got shot at in the squad car and they got the rear glass and windshield.

I said a couple of nasties, turned the car around and took ALL OF THE garage.

Called mom at work told her, she said yeah right I'll talk to ya when I get home, and hung up........     She realized the old fart wasn't speaking with a forked tongue when she got home.

NOW I can't sleep.

Night all, have a nice day tomorrow.

my middle daughter put a 2' long gouge in the side of my truck, not more then a month after i bought it!!  she was riding her bike when we were camping and had trouble getting around the back end so she hit the box with her handle bar.  she felt sooooo bad she hid in the camper balling her eyes out!!  she asks me if it was possible to paint my truck, i asked her why, then she showed me!!  i still razzz her about that!!

but yet, it gets better!!

the day i went to look at my Valkyrie, i brought the whole family along.  the guy i bought it from had a removeable back rest.  well, i didn't know until i got home but my daughter, i should nick name her "scratches", struck again!!  my wife showed me the two inch long scrape she put on the right sidecover while trying to remove the back rest!!  the guy took such good care of his cycle that it didn't have a single scratch anywere!  until my daughter came around!!

Dont you just hate that. I just painted my truck nice black paint job the wife putting some stuff in the trash puts a 4 inch scratch in the side of the pass door. Then takes it to one of the guys I do buisness with and he wet sands it and doesn't buff it out all the way so now I have a scratch and sanding marks. She did this without telling me mind you. So she finally got around to telling me, I couldn't say much she was pretty upset and had tried to do something about it. Well I called the guy that details cars for me and he buffed it out the rest of the way thankfully the guy had put enough paint on the car. Try as you might it just seems that sometimes you just cant protect yourself from things like this.

You are a braver man than I.  I would have taken it to a buddy's house or the shop and hidden it out until I got the glass replaced.  In the mean time, cleaned up all the glass, rent her a nice convertible to use because you love her and hoped that she never found out.   Smiley

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram in near new condition. My oldest daughter needed to move some items from her old place to her new home, so she asked to borrow my truck and trailer. I said I would rather she didn't take the trailer since she had never backed a vehicle pulling a trailer. She assured me she would not have to back it as she had a circle drive, so I said okay. She took it and when her friend called she said my daughter was bawling and said she was sorry she had damaged my truck. To cut to the chase she tried to back it up to the garage because her helpers had said they wouldn't have to carry things so far. I'm sure you know what happened. She jackknifed the trailer and the rail went clear through the back quarter panel of my beautiful like-new truck. It's humorous now but sure wasn't at the time. She has not driven my truck since (her choice). In all sincerity, it's just a vehicle and things happen so I try not to get to worked up over things like this.

It is kind of hard to take good pictures after dark and no light.

the thing about scratches it that they look bad NOW.  after a couple weeks, when you don't wash it for a while, the scratch just blends in.

i was helping NITRO with some tail light wireing on his interstate.  i scratched the hell out of his trunk.  i scratched it up against the CB antenna.  i still feel rotten about it.  and yes, i offered to have it repainted, and that offer still stands.  sorry bud.  Embarrassed

RJ, after all these years, she ain't gonna throw you out.  Too much time and trouble involved in training a new man.  So do your groveling and get it over with.

It can be fixed.

She never said a word.    I was still up when she got home, she walked in and asked how come the little spoiler was looking at the ceiling.  Told her that was where the back glass connected.  She said OH, and then laughed like a hyena.     She gets a phone call, like daughter, her sister, fellow worker, and she tells them all about it and then laughs some more.   The last thing she says is, he can't say nothing if I scratch it or wreck it.      I just told her she was 2 for 3 on totaling, so if she did have a bender, to total it out.
