Anyone know of a company / place that refurbishs GPS units?  My Garmin Street Pilot 2620 is in need of some work and Garmin told me they no longer work on or support this model.  I picked up a 1490T yesterday for the cage but would like to get the 2620 running again for the Valk, if possible and NOT tooooooo expensive.

TIA !

This is just a guess, but I'll bet it would be cheaper to just buy a refurbished unit.

I would ask Garmin if they're going to continue to have map updates for your unit before you spend any money on a repair. Besides, it is getting near the time of year when there are a lot of good deals on stuff like that.  Now a lot of them come with lifetime free updates on maps.  You may be better off just getting a new one.

My 2620 had a small problem that was live-able with, but, one day I decided to have it refurbished.    Sent it in and got it back.

Used it to get to the Bubba Que that Texas Ranger put on, worked great to get there.

Since I had a rather large way to get home I left at 4:00 AM from the Motel.

Turned it on and routed it to my address.

Told me it was ready for use and to drive .01 mile and turn left.
Thought that sounded a little strange as we left the Motel and turned right every time we went to TR's and it was on my way home, I thought.

Long story short, I followed the GPS, and it got me into dirt roads, South of town and like I was headed for the Gulf.

Located an LEO and asked him how to get on the highway I wanted.    He said see that stream of cars over there, said yes, he said get on their tail as they are all headed for the big Nascar Race and that will help ya to get through town.   Said thanks, followed them till we got close to the race track.    Pulled off for gas, bought a paper road map, and drove home with NO more problems.

The 2620 is laying in the drawer in the kitchen, and will stay there till I croak, then told the wife to burn it up with me in the cremation process.

I'll lead it to 4377, where it needs to go.

BUY A NEW ONE, mucho cheaper......... coolsmiley tickedoff 2funny

Had a similar experience with a refurb.  When I pressed "go home," it took me off on a wild goose chase.  Figured out later it was because the previous owner of the refurb lived in California and I live in Michigan Cheesy.
