2014 Valkyrie 1800

Seminole, Florida

« on: October 17, 2010, 06:04:00 AM »

I started out before sunrise to meet Grumpy in Seffner along the I-4 corridor. Got to see the sunrise,(good) got to ride into the direct sun the rest of the day (not so good).

Boy his Valkyrie is CLEAN, he could build you a Valkyrie by hand with his eyes closed, he's a walking, breathing Valkyrie textbook cooldude

Coffee and breakfast, then pressed on into the sunrise to meet up with Stuffy in Orlando. He's still one of my all time favorite Valkyries. This guy has customised every inch of his bike, sure looks smart rolling down the road cooldude

He's got some kind of Bridgstone CT. I REALLY liked the look of it, seemed much rounder than my Good-Year TT. I rode behind him and it tracked real nice, I didn't see it come off the ground in the corners like mine does Shocked Maybe that's because we rode straight arrow to Daytona? I'm trying this next.

I think we had all the front tire manufacturers represented in our crowd by the time we hit Daytona.

My bike was proud to park next to such a Clean Valkyrie, this Interstate looks better than new. Chrome wheels look great cooldude

Bert's old black Valk, converted to Sherries custom white and pink Valk. Bert's new GL-1500 behind it. Nice job Bert cooldude

TJ's new to him Green Dragon, or as TropicTraveler says, "Kermit" Looks good TJ, hope you got home OK? Figure it out?

Sealskiner made it, unfortunately not on two wheels. Custom four wheeler, good to see you Tom cooldude

Two of Eddie and Kim's Valkyries

We met Shannon and Yvette on their nice purple and white Valk. Watch the Florida board and come meet with us again soon.

I think everyone had a good time Roll Eyes Sorry no pics from Daytona, I get around a bunch of Valkyries and seem to get tunnel vision. Grumpy and Stuffy, I enjoyed riding with you and your fine Valkyrie specimens cooldude

The highlight of this trip was getting pinned in the port-o-let by a Valkyrie. At least it was a Valkyrie Grin

Yup, twas a chance to hassle Doug a bit, so I took it. A bunch of us rode over to the Speedway to check out the vendors but Doug decided to use the Porta-John(no relation to me) before we started our walkthru. So, just to show I can still be a PITA, I rolled my bike's front wheel up a couple inches from the door, hit the air horn and the throttle. After all had a good laugh, and a weak smile from Tundra,  Wink we headed for the vendors. If the economy is down it sure didn't show it at the Speedway. You really had to watch where you walked, it was packed and the weather was perfect. I was able to pick up some replacement LED clusters for my front run/turn signals. I got caught in the rain a couple times in recent months and one side got water inside the light housing, shorting out part of the LED's.

All in all, it was a great day with perfect weather and a great bunch of Florida riders to share it with. We all spent more time in Duff's Buffet than we should have, but the dessert counter was larger than the hot food section.  Cheesy  And, our SW Florida contingent....Trick Rick, stopped in Daytona on his way home from a 5,000 mile round trip to the northeast, midwest, south, then home. He made the trip on his recently acquired Voyager and apparently no major glitches except for a rear flat in Ohio and intermittent cruise control.

As for the ride over and back from the Orlando area, it was a good day for it and with a couple of good friends.....Grumpy(Bill Gurney) & Tundra(Doug Jordan). Now that the weather is cooling down, we need to all meet up more often.

Do any of you guys have a "normal" Sunday morning ride down there in central Florida? I'm going down early November, and bringing the Fat Lady to her new permanent home in Edgewater. I'm looking forward to meeting up with some of you guys. Might prove expensive though if I decide to play "keeping up with the Joneses". Man, you guys have got some great looking Valks down there! cooldude

Usually not a Sunday morning for the usual reasons, some do however. Us retired folk will often meet during the week for breakfast or lunch. Just watch the Fla. board, and remember....you're welcome to suggest a good spot for chow also. I'm in the Orlando area so I can go in any direction.

Yep, we have a few, referred to as Que Tips since all you see sometimes is the Tip of the grey head above the steering wheel. Watch your step around the Publix supermarkets, it's like an anthill.

What gets me more than the Q-Tips are the cars driven by some Little Old Lady so short, so that from behind it looks like nobody is driving the car! Grin

We actually bought our home in Florida back in 2004, so most of what is "unique" has already surprised us before. Only difference this year down there will be the Valk parked in my southern garage instead of the H-D, which gets to rest for the winter.
