There's a lot more to consider than just mileage obviously.  Undecided

In our world of "Valk-a-wonderland" that sounds like a good price, but it is certainly way over book price. Like everything else, depends how bad you want it, and how many there are! And therein lies the rub! So, we typically throw the book out and pay with our hearts. Dangerous though it may be!!! Smiley

told this guy a while back to call me if he ever wanted to sell the bike and he just called  me.  $9,000 is at the top of the price range but manoman that is some low mileage.  Said he has receipt where he just took it to the dealer and had them check it out and they gave it a clean bill of health.   says he has several other people interested but he had told me he would give me first option to buy it.  My current Valkyrie is a 2001 with a 99 Tourer package on it with the Hondaline hard bags and windshield.  It also has a interstate gas tank.   My bike is black....the fastest color and is in great shape.  It's also paid for.....manoman.....decisions decisions.  told him I would let him know in the morning......

I bought a 2000 IS bout 4 years ago for $9500 with 5000 miles and had to replace head gasket and do other work casue the bike sat without being ridden for so long. Just a thought . As far as price, look at accessories. Most buyers wont pay for them but if the bike is decked out with goodies it can add a few thousand in value to the bike that most buyers ignore

I bought a 2000 Blue and Silver IS this past April for that price. It had 28,500 miles and was nearly maxed out with extras. If this IS has most of the goods you want already, definitely go for it. If it's bare, I'd say the bike is a bit overpriced, even with the low mileage.

Personally, I'd keep the Tourer.  IMHO, it's more versatile.  If you want it to look like an Interstate, you can put any number of fairings on it and there are lots of trunk options available too.  Bisides, you've already got the big tank on it.

My wife bought me my second Interstate on Mothers day this year . It is a 2000 and it only had 4,727.0 on the clock... I felt the need to put new tires, new timming belts, and fresh fluids.
Price of bike with tires timing belts and new fluids $7,150

2000 Red Black with a few extras.....$8500 out the door last year...Thats tax and all fees, and fresh oil and filter.everything from a dealer her in Michigan

IN the ball park if its a nice bike, but I'd let him know the market and hit him a lower offer.

Tires good? if not that should be $500 off right there!!

If you truly want an interstate, and this one pleases you, I'd just buy it and never look back.  That color combination and low milage interstate are becoming harder and harder to find.  You can't always find just what you want in a Valkyrie when you decide you want another one.  It may need a few odds & ins from time to time, but that is the usual thing for something mechanical.  If it has the origonal tires on it, that is the first thing that I would replace.  I have had mine for allmost 3 years now and love it.  That trunk is a great addition to any bike.  I use mine all the time.  Of course, it is your money and only you can make that decision...JTL

Bought my 2000 Interstate July 2007 and paid $7,500.  Had Hondaline racks on trunk and bags.  Kuryaken handlebar grips and highway pegs and a factory CB.  Mileage was 25450.  I think I got a great deal.  I am over 93,000 miles on it now and love it more every time I ride.

Digger,

There's lots to consider besides money and mileage. Things like tires, color, location, accessories installed etc. etc. etc. I bought a 99 green Interstate earlier this year for $8500. It had 6500 miles, a few nice Hondaline accessories, brand new tires and a complete service 500 miles prior. It also only cost me a tank of gas to go and get it.
It's your money and the timing is good to get a deal. IMHO, you can hardly go wrong with a well maintained model if it's the color you like.
Please show us the pictures of it when you bring it home.  Wink

All the best,

Mark
PS - Love the Blue/Silver color combo.

I've decided to stay with my Tourer.   If anyone is interested in the bike email me at terry.bice@elpaso.com and I'll give you the guys phone number.  It's a blue and silver 2000 interstate with 6,000+ miles for $9,000.  has some extra chrome on it he says.   A friend of mine has looked at it and says it looks like a new bike.  He has also added a cd player I think.
