interesting differences in viewpoints, to be sure.
in se's post there is the comment that people want the govt. working for them. What the he11 happended to working for yourself ?
91 percent tax rate on the wealthy under Eisenhower? I'd sure like to see the facts that make that a true statement.
At any rate, a comparo of those who will do for themselves versus those who expect for themselves.

Both you and FLAVALK have attacked the source but not the content of the article.  I've not seen you disagree with the statistics put forth, nor the conclusions reached by Robert Reich, who, by the way, has published in many different venues, including the Wall Street Journal.

Perhaps a more useful approach would be to demonstrate where the statistics fail or how he has come to the incorrect conclusion, given the statistics.

Me?  I want a lot of rope and a bunch of trees... both for the Congresscritters and the Wall Street bangers who paid them off and got us into the situation we are today.

reich is a dangerous and evil man. an extreme left wing communist/marxist socialist and what ever ism u want to use. SE u should really research these people that u worship, for they will enslave u.

http://www.intellectualconservative.com/article4290.html

Robert Reich, President Clinton’s Labor Secretary, is an articulate advocate of liberal-socialism who symbolizes the opposing doctrine of statist collectivism.  Mr. Reich also has written that Christians are a greater threat to America’s future than Al Queda terrorists.

In hideous, dark contrast, the statist collectivism of Mr. Reich’s liberal-socialism crushes the human spirit and introduces the horrors of totalitarianism and mass slaughter of dissenters.

Nonetheless, liberal intellectuals like Mr. Reich remain ever confident that individualism and Judeo-Christian morality are enemies of society.  Their confidence in their own sagacity makes them willing to mandate rules and forcibly impose new social-justice programs.  Judicial activism is a preferred method.

Liberal-socialists attack individualism as selfish greed.  Their implicit assumption is that individuals are incapable of making wise choices that will benefit the whole of society.  The further implication is that only socialist intellectuals are capable of doing so.

Here is who u support SE. Do u believe the same?

Obama Advisor, Robert Reich To Elderly "We're Going To Let You Die!"

Robert Reich, former Labor Secretary under Bill Clinton and an adviser to President Barack Obama, spills the beans about the Democrat's plans for your health care!

He affirms that this is what an educated, honorable, realistic, democracy should support:

-Younger people should pay more

-Healthier people should pay more

-Older people should just die- they're "too expensive"

-There should be "less innovation" in medical technology

-You should not expect to live longer than your parents.

http://www.humblelibertarian.com/2009/10/obama-advisor-to-elderly-were-going-to.html

watch the you-tube of him speaking the above.

Again, you've attacked the man... and I bet a 100 bux that you cut and pasted those words... they are not yours... but plagiarism is another story...

BUT, you have failed to address the content of the article.  Are the statistics factually correct, and are the correct conclusions drawn from the statistics?  It's just HIDEOUS, man!

It looks like those tax rates went up under Trumans watch
"Truman, a New Deal Democrat, delivered a message to Congress on September 6, 1945, which laid out his vision for postwar America. He listed 21 main policy points, including a minimum wage, guaranteed employment, medical insurance, housing aid, improved benefits for war veterans, and wage and price controls. Powerful forces opposed Truman's platform. Congressional Republicans -- and even some Democrats -- had begun to view social welfare programs as unnecessary giveaways."
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/truman/sfeature/sf_domestic.html

We were at war(WWII) with another democrat in office before that. Your chart show a drastic drop  in rates before the end of Eisenhower's office.
