Friday afternoon Coot, Don and I went for a quick zip about. Grin

I rode sweep most of the day so I got the dirtiest.

We did ride some blacktop to get to and from the dirty bits.

Bridge over the Nantahala River just east of Wayah Rd.

Nantahala River

Well that sucks. Winding Stair was closed for the winter.

Friday afternoon we rode Forest Road 711 south to north. This road parrallels Wyayh Rd and is 15 miles long. Could be ridden on a Valkyrie with caution. The blacktop is pretty broken up.

Whilst y'all were zipping about on blacktop on the SaturdayAl, Coot, Don and I went dirty

Saturday we rode Forest Rd 711 north to south

What no picture of the lady with the shot gun and Chiuahua?

I damn sure did not hang around , but Coot and I were close by and listening for shots.

Had to conserve my ammo , only brought two guns.

If we had to shoot our way in to save you and Don.

What a ride.

Lake Aquone is on the west side of Wayah Rd

House on the side of Rainbow Springs Rd

This is where I fell off the KLR. It wasn't moving - AGAIN  Shocked

I forget to unplug my heated liner and as I swang my leg over to the right of the bike I pulled it over towards me and fell backwards at the same time.

As I was falling all I could see was the bike following me. Luckily the years of judo I did aeons ago enabled me to fall squarely on my back and then roll. Seriously. Otherwise i think I would have got the bike on top of the right leg.

After a swift Micky D's for lunch off to find Tatham Gap Rd on the north side of Andrews

Don followed his GPS up Azalea Lane where a lady with a shotgun and a rabid Jack Russell stopped us in our tracks and told us in no uncertain terms we were on her property and to get off.

After she calmed down we were told someone had only recently burnt down part of her house. That explained the shotgun.

She gave us directions to the beginning of Tatham Gap.

Sunday morning was cold

Heading to Atlanta on Sunday morning.

Don and I stopped in Ellijay, unloaded the bikes and went over High Shoals Rd. This can be found north of Amicalola Falls in N GA.

It was great to see some familiar faces and some new ones.

To those of you thinking of buying a second or third Valkyrie these words will seem blasphemous.

Go ride a dual sport instead. It will open up a whole new world of motorcycle fun.

Ive already been checkin on one Smiley

Looking at the KLR as probably the most affordable ... however I sat atop a 900cc KTM Adventure.  Nice bike there too.  However, its a bit pricey

If I had know then what I know now I would have bought a lighter bike than a KLR.

When you are stuck with your front wheel at chest height wondering how to change into first gear on a rocky uphill slope a bike weighing 100lbs less is desirable.

Elbow and knee prtoectors are a must. I speak from experience  Cheesy A fall onto the smallest stone can ruin your day. I have a dent in my right knee protector that would have really messed my kneee up if the stone had connected to flesh and bone.

That's a good bike. I get left in the dirt by guys on 250's and 200's.

That was really great thanks, since I wont get any where to see the trees turning that was it for me. I wish we had some good places to ride off road I would definitely consider a KLR or something like it
