This is not Valk related but a tale of when I first moved to my current house.

I used to have a minor sleep problem where I would wake up half way through the night and have trouble getting back off to sleep.
On one particular night I woke at around 2am,as I knew I wasn't going back to sleep soon,I decided to go to the kitchen to get a glass of water, please bear in mind that I live in a typical English house. To get to my kitchen I have to walk through our dining room.So I am in the kitchen, sipping this glass of water and out of the corner of my eye I see a young girl walking across the dining room. She was not walking from door to door but from wall to wall,I would say she was aged about 12 and was wearing a long night dress. My daughter was 12 at the time and I thought it was her,so I walked into the dining room and said "What are you doing up this time of night",when I switched the light on,,,no-one was there.I kept this to myself so as not to scare the rest of the family.

A few weeks later me my wife and daughter came home one early evening to find my son,who was 15 at the time, sat on the front door step in the pouring rain. When we asked him what he was doing he replied"I aint staying in that house by myself again, someone was calling my name",at that point I said to him not to say another word.We all went in and I took the wife to one side and explained the story above,I then called the boy down and asked him if the voice he heard was male or female,he said it was female.I then asked him how old he thought the person was that was calling him and he replied"about the same age as Sophie",Sophie is my daughter.

Thats not the only strange thing that went on in my house, whenever any one of us would walk up the stairs it felt as though you were being pushed,or chased.

My daughter had said she had seen someone in my back garden wearing a long coat and a wide brimmed hat again walking from left to right and finally dis-appearing.

Another evening I was sat in my garden and I could hear a large dog panting and I could hear the footsteps as though it was running on a road .I am very nervous of dogs so was looking out for this beast. All of a sudden the noise that I heard went straight behind me and slowly faded into the distance.Again going left to right. There is no access  in those directions in my garden, only a 6ft high fence.

We have looked into the history of our house and spoke to many old villagers but have found out nothing.

Fortunately everything has been fine for the last few years.

Do you believe in these sorts of things or do you think I have lost the plot  uglystupid2

I am assuming you are serious in your post,  so I will say that I have never experienced any thing as vivid as what you describe, but on occasion, I have felt the presence of the spirit of my dearly departed daughter in our home, and am aware that it may be my wishful imagination, but I find it comforting.  Hoser

I had a similar experience, sounds, not apperations in my last house.  I never spoke of it to my wife.  As we were house hunting for my current house, the real estate agent and I got on to the subject of disclosure of known issues when selling.  I asked her if she ever had anyone disclose a supernatural incident, she said she had.  I told her about my experience in my then current house where I heard a boy call "Mom" late at night.  At that point my wife said she had had it happen to her as well.  The previous owners had a son who was killed when hit by a car on the road near the house.

No more ever came of it.

I've never had any kind of encounter of this nature, but I do have a casual interest in the topic.

As long as you don't feel threatened, I would not worry.  If it causes emotional problems with the encounters, move.

After grandpa died grandma lived alone. Grandpa died at home in bed. Shortly after his death grandmas touch lamp would come on in the bed room at dark as she was getting ready for bed. After a week of this grandma said 'George everything is good and i'm doing well. You go on up and i'll see you there.' The lamp stuff stopped after this.  Shocked

Not me, but told by my brother.

He and his wife purchased the home 16 years ago.  Lannon Stone Ranch, built in the 40's, they are the third owners.

Soon after moving in, they noticed noises that had no source, cold spots (down right chilly) in areas that had warmth all around...  Their cat, would puff up and hiss, at nothing at all, and more recently, their dog gets weird and whines for no apparent reason.

Their son, now 13, has had 'visits', that scare the crap outta him, on more than one occasion.  Within the past 3 months, my brother told me of the most recent 'visit', where his son was in the bathroom, brushing his teeth.  He was in the living room, watching the tube.  His wife in the den, on the 'puter.  All of a sudden, there is this scream...  In the blink of an eye, his son is outta the bathroom, down the hall, in his bedroom with the door locked...  When he finally got his son to open the door, he was as white as a ghost, and obviously 'freaked'...

His son tells him that as he was brushing his teeth, facing the mirror, a little girl (7 or 8 years old, in his mind) was standing right beside him, out of nowhere...  Not the first time this 'little girl' has visited him...

Upon further investigation, my brother comes to find out that the son of the first owner killed a neighbor girl, when he was in his teens (not in their house, but the body was found in the neighborhood)...  Creepy  Shocked

As an adult, I've always thought that the mind can give you what you want/need.  A recently passed loved one, stopping by to say goodbye or to let you know that everything is OK...  I think it's a way the mind helps a person cope with a loss.  But, with my brothers son, 13 years old, and no predisposed ideas on anything, it does make ya think a bit  Wink

Visiting my uncle and his wife in rural Minnesota.  Stayed overnight in their rennovated basement bedroom.  Very nice, not creepy in the least.  1:00 AM I woke to the sound of a door being slammed hard somewhere closeby.  Sounded like it was in the basement.  I listened for footsteps upstairs in case somebody was moving around but nothing.  Finally fell asleep again only to wake up a short time later with my ankles clunking together.  I sleep on my side.  That was odd but I rationalized that I might have moved my legs in my sleep.  Fell back asleep.  Woke up again with my ankles clunking, but this time I feel the foot of the bed still moving.  Just as if someone had put their full weight on the bed and then got up suddenly.  That, my friends, got my full attention!  It was pitch black and I stared around the room looking for any movement, but there was nothing there.  Didn't sleep much the rest of the night.  The bed didn't move again, but I kept hearing small sounds like cabinets opening or things shuffling around.  I haven't been back there and I never told them about it.  But there is no doubt in my mind that something was trying to get my attention.

I haven't seen her, but my wife insists that she has regularly caught glimpses of our first cat; gone now six years.

I read recently of a man who broke his neck, stumbling on his way downstairs in the middle of the night.  He was taken to the hospital but had flatlined along the way.  Somehow they revived him at the hospital.  The next day he was asked what he remembered about the experience.  He said all he remembered was going downstairs for a bite of sandwhich, getting his food and sitting comfortably at the counter.  Except, in reality, he never got past the bottom of the stairs.  Maybe our consciousness does not always recognize death, especially sudden death, and we just go on doing what we would normally do.

in my old house my room mate and I were down stairs watching tv when we heard a bone chilling voice that we couldnt make out what it said, we turned and looked at each other and asked if both of us heard that.... the tv was on a commercial and was down low volume (we always turned the sound down for commercials )  it kinda freaked both of us out but we never thought anything more of it,

then some other day my grandpa was at my house and took a nap in the guest room down stairs and later he asked if we were messing with him... come to find out he was woke up by "someone" grabbing his foot but no one was there...

so..... come to find out casually talking to neighbors the people who owned the house before... the mom was a probation officer and their young boy had found moms duty gun and had accidentally been killed while playing with it.

it never really bothered us.. we more thought of it as a cool story to tell girls, but there was something strange going on.

We had one of those dang lamps, We would come home it would be on, we swore it was off when we left, we would be laying in bed and the dang thing would come on, after a awhile of this we got a little jumpy to say the least, The one night in the dark I walked into the room, it was dark and I started to reach for the lamp and it came on!!! Freakin CAT Had learned that if she touched the lamp with her nose it would come on and she would them roll and rub on the lamp base like cats do!! That caused the lamp to flicker and change brightness because it was a 3 way touch lamp!! Shocked DAMN CAT  2funny  WE unplugged the lamp and the cat left it alone after she figured out it wouldn't come on anymore.

After my divorce,  the ex and I agreed to stay in the same town to raise our 2 boys,  just from different homes.  A couple years later,  she remarried and the moved into an older home @ 100+yrs old,  still in the same town.  My boys were @ 9 and 7 at that time and split time at both homes.  Then the stories started...  banging..  footsteps...  lights on and off...  seeing figures in the windows.. etc.

Minor stuff at first,  then it seemed to build to louder noises,  things moved,  cold spots in the house, etc.    The boys didn't want to stay there and came to stay with me only for a bit.   The ex spoke with new neighbors and they told her of the same stories the previous owners would share,  but never getting to any story of what may be the "cause".    After about 6 months,  things seemed to settle down....  no middle of the night noises or lights on and off.  But there has continued to be figures in the windows that people have seen from the yard or when the boys friends walking up the long driveway.

Real or not,  I know that my sons (both away at college now)  believe that something is going on at their mother's home.

Y'all should try rebuilding a 100+ year old house and even the old pharmacy/doctor's building...

Great thread.
I lived in a house in San Diego in the 90's and I found out Grandme had passed there.
Every now abnd again I'd smell perfume like an old lady would wear. The owner brought a bottle of Grandma's perfume over and that was it. I also saw her in a mirror that was in the bedroom when she was there. We always set a plate for her at holidays and never got a bad vibe.

Audible stuff here from time to time. The house was built in 1903. My son and I have both heard footsteps from time to time when no one else was about...sounds like a man in boots. I've never seen anything tho.

Boobies thread was killed and deleted. It was very sudden and unpleasant the way the poor thing met its maker. Since then, as I surf the posts, I can almost feel its presence, looking at me from behind the screen. But, it hasn't harmed me in any way. I think it's a benevolent ghost of a past thread. Cry
