Been a while since I posted. Changed jobs and been busy. I finally got rid of the flat spot I had wiith the following configuration on my magna charger:

yamaha raider air filter, super trap exhaust with 12 plates, 27.5 idle jet, 96 needle on third notch.

After i did this it would run fine but almost would't start. tried everything. got to the point where I was about to go back to stock when it occured to me to get a new battery. While I was at it i upgraded to a 14A-bs battery which advertised 260 CCA(cold cranking amp) vs the stock with 190.
also bought a battery tender jr. now it starts right up and the motor does spin much faster on start. any way I have to force myself to ride the Raider occasionally because I like the valk so much. Thanks to all the real gurus who gave me advise on what turned out to be such a long journey.
Still looking for a aftermarket dyna3000. Until then run a real octane booster.

What kind (make, etc.) did you purchase?

Congrats on finding the issue and getting your bike in tip-top running order.

This just goes to show that a little BS can go a long way.  2funny

Good to hear, 9 years and this ole lady still makes me smile, thanks for the heads up on the battery, Just bought a new one this summer 8 years on the Wally world battery Never used a tender or nothin, It is a pain to get started in the winter, Tonight we are getting into the 20's  Sad but it still takes about 10 pumps to fire up, (Little note) just enlarged the main jet again to #260 and WOW! start up use with chock is much better and was a lot easier to start, But that Magnacharger is awesome once the fine tuning is worked out. Ride Safe!

YTX14H-BS 12v AGM Maintenance Free Powersport Motorcycle Battery
they are all made by Yuasa but can carry different names. I ordered my at a local shop from the parts unlimited catalog. be careful not to get the ytx14AH-BS as the A makes it too tall.
