Thanks for that.  Those where the cars when I was a kid.  I've always wanted a 1953 Studebaker Commander.  Still like the looks of that car.

Yep, BF that Studebaker Commander looks good, but I also like the Studebaker Pickup, see a lot of them still on the road in my neck of the woods.

They certainly were works of art. Look at the metal work that went into them. It is amazing

My first car out of high school was a '55 Caddie Coupe De Ville. Then I had a '59 Chevy. I wish I still had the Caddie.

Great memories!  I rode in a lot them and owned a couple over the years.  My cousin had a Studebaker Avanti that I drove a little and a couple of Corvairs.

Could find a lot of these pre 1960 cars still on the road in Castro's Cuba, but probably
not in very good shape.

Growing up in a Detroit suburb I remember the romance we all had with cars.  Weeks before the new models were released, they would sit in the showroom with cloth covers over them.  As kids, we would stand with our noses pressed up against the window and try to guess what was underneath, "look, there are no bumps in the back, I think they got rid of the fins".  We had an Oldsmobile dealer around the corner and a Cadillac dealer across the street.  On the big night, they would bring out big spotlights and invite people in for an open house/unveiling of the new models...free coffee and donuts.  It was quite the event and I have such fond memories.  Alas, those days are gone...and it's sad.
