Hi All,
I have my own thoughts.. but if any of you has a tried and tested method..as to what sort of metal adhesive would be best to use..I'm replacing my shift peg on the gear lever.. so as an added precaution I would like to add an adhesive as well, because of the pounding it will get .. I have ground my old peg of.. drilled the hole.. cant make up my mind what adhesive to use.. at the moment the peg has a long grub screw.. thinking about a lock nut or replacing the grub screw for a bolt with a lock washer and adhesive.. recommendations please ..recall

I know this does not exactly answer the question you asked, but I tapped threads into the shifter and then used a lock nut.

Procedure is explained here with photos:

Loctite has a thread locking compound that is permanent. You cannot remove a bolt that had it on the threads without heating it. Might be what you're looking for...

don't put adhesive on it...if you ever want to change out pegs, it's just a whole lot of trouble.  i just drilled the hole after using a centering punch, put the bolt through, and used a thin stainless washer.  i put a dab of blue medium strength locktite on the threades, and used a stainless cap nut.

I have always used a medium grade Loctite and a nut with a nylon insert. Works better than a lock washer.
