This is sad... Really sad... I hit 99,000 on the odometer of my Valk about 2 months ago...
And as of last night, I'm at 99,902... She had 0.9 miles on the odometer when I bought her. I think I'm subconsciously avoiding riding for fear of rolling over that 100,000 mark. I've always wanted that to happen doing "something special", and not just a trip to Wal Mart or something, but there's nothing "Something Special" lined up for me anytime soon, so the Valk's been just used for tiny around town things...
I know, I know, get over it, it's just a stupid number... I need to just get on 'er and ride, no matter where or when or what it's about...
Anyway... While I'm admitting my silliness... Anyone else ever had a similar issue?

Pack your favorite 'to go' food and beverage 'maybe a bottle of wine too' along with a good desert and maybe a blanket and head out in your favorite direction and ride till she turns that magic number and then pull over and celebrate! Just a thought.

I did the roll over on one of my GWings, Now at 79.000 on the IS think we should have a 100.000 mile club or member list? I know not quite like the mile high club.

The sun came up this morning, Serk, and you stood on the top side of the grass. Get on that beast and go for a ride.

You need to get it on and ride it like you stole it, and when you see it turn over, get off do a little dance around your bike (Take some pictures). Then get back on here and continue with your journey.
When my 84 GWI turned 100,000 miles, I was on route 49 just past mile marker 33 heading to the beach for the weekend. I pulled over, danced around my bike with people looking at me like I was crazy or on fire. Jumped back on and road to the beach. No digital cameras back then...
You are the only one that will know where you were and how she was running when it happened...and I bet she will be running just like she did when you rode her off the lot!

I'm trying to imagine me, with a bottle of wine in me, headed back from one of my favorite directions on the Valkyrie... -Mike "OK, that's enough of that..."

I've always wanted that to happen doing "something special"... It WILL be something special - you'll be riding your Valkyrie - what could be more special than that??? Cars, bikes, etc, any "special" mileages, I've stopped and taken a pic of the odo. All the pics are gone now, almost all the vehicles are gone, too...but the memories are still vivid "up here"... Me? I'd drive it, take a pic, and look forward to 200,000 miles.... R

Wow! That sounds pretty cool. Make a special trip just for that with a celebration at the moment. Maybe get something commemorative but disposable and burry it at the spot where you roll over. Or maybe something that's come off the bike. An old screw or washer.

I'll have to remember that, when I get to 100K miles......take the wife, and a shovel.....
(Ouch, honey! I was just kidding! Ouch!!)
Actually, my wife's pretty tolerant of my hobbies - we get along great, because we only have ONE thing in common --- we both love ME!!

LOL! I'll hafta remember that one... I've got several interests/hobbies (Obsessions, according to the spousal unit) as well, and she tolerates 'em pretty well... One of the down sides to working from home, I don't get my old 60 mile a day commute ride in anymore... And of course, I'm going oncall tonight anyway, which means no riding more than 15 minutes from my computer for a week...

I hit 100,000 miles a few weeks ago I was riding with about 20 other Valkyries. When we started our ride I told the lead biker (Taz) how many miles I had to go for 100,000 miles. As we were going down the hiway I pull off to a side road and took my pictures. When I was done I got back on the hiway and around the corner they were all waiting for me . I felt like a rock star!!

I ran into a tour guide at midpoint (rte66) in Adrian Tx ; he was on a Harley leading a group from the UK. Anyway ... He had a 1500 goldwing he got rid of because the engine died shortly after he rolled his odometer over ... 900k without a rebuild! I THINK YOU'RE SAFE.

Well? It has been a week...or what seems like a week... did she turn over yet??? Sadly, no... I snuck in a handful of miles, but I'm oncall for work until next Tuesday, which means I hafta be no more than 15 minutes from my computer at all times, AND I hafta be able to answer my phone at all times... And for the record, it's not really that I'm worried about something mechanical going wrong, it's more that I always wanted that occasion to be special, and not just some around town errand, but to heck with it, once I'm off my oncall rotation it's time to join the flip side, even if I'm just doing laps around the Dallas Metromess to get it!

So... My 24/7 Oncall for work finally ended and went straight into nasty COLD WET rainy days here for a while... And then this morning, I got up... Sun was shining Temp in the mid 50's, 'sposed to max out in the upper 60's... All excuses were gone. I got on and started riding, didn't even know where, just rode... Ended up at a favorite gun store, browsed for a while, but decided not to buy (Saving for my trip to the Arctic ocean next summer) Did some quick calculations, and pointed 'er back towards home... Ended up in a school parking lot near my house with the odometer looking kinda like this: After a few laps around the parking lot, it looked more like this: And eventually, it finally happened... And then I had to stand back a bit... Even after all those years, miles and neglect, the countless times she's been ridden hard and put away wet, the countless times she's NOT been washed, she's still quite a fine looking motorcycle, if I do say so myself! And then, I had to pull over for one more shot on the way home... Had to get this shot taken today: To match the shot I took almost 10 years ago when I bought the bike brand new: And now, to celebrate... I think I'm gonna go for a ride!

if your this worried about 100,000 what are you going to be like at 200,000? LOL!!! It's more the emotional side than worried that it'll break or something... Kinda like, as the kids say today, getting your V card punched... You really want it to be special, but it usually ends up being fumbly in the back seat of a car with someone you don't even remember the name of...
