I am new to the Valkyrie, so have lots of questions.
With the Cobra 6 into 6 pipes, is it necessary to rejet the carbs with the Cobra jet kit.  If you don't, what are the consequences?  Is that what causes the discoloring of the header pipes out of the engine?
If you install the jet kit, will that prevent the discoloring of the pipes
I am sure that the experts will clue me in.
Thanks.

No jetting you will lose some HP.

Stop it from bluing the pipes, afraid not.

6X6 are single wall, so they get hot and turn color.
Stock are double walled so the outside pipe does not get to hot.

The so called Cobra jet kit is only adjustable needles and springs. No Jets. At about $100.00, if I had it to do over I don't think I would.

I have the Cobra pipes, stock jets and needles and what made the spark plugs perfect was going to a K&N Air Filter.  With the  stock air filter she was running rich

I am running the Coras with stock jetting and I am happy with it, I hate messing with the carbs. If there is a HP loss, it is minimal enough.

Interesting.  With my Cobras and a re-jetting, I got only 28 mpgs.  I returned to the OEM pipes and after five years of lousy mileage, I returned the carbs to OEM jets and took a 400 mile trip where I averaged 43 mpgs.  For those of you who have the Cobras and OEM jetting, what is your mileage.  thanks

I was getting 35-37 with a day at 40mpg ONCE with non ETOH gas.  After the alkeehol gas hit everywhere my mileage went down to 33-35 on average

I am guessing between 35 and 40 but I rarely drive the beast in a manner that would be fair to a gas milage check, maybe I will do that next spring, but darn, 250 miles is a long way to go with out grabbing some gusto along the way.
