A friend sent me this email recently.  Pretty good sized critter.  Lots of bacon.
Do they really grow them this big in texas?? crazy2 crazy2

Cute little  Texas   pig ...That was killed in the town of  Cut-N-Shoot   TX. We call them Piney Wood Rooter's.
There was a documentary on about a month ago about these things growing up so rapidly in the US .
They're all over  Georgia , Alabama , Arkansas , Texas ,  Florida , and other states.
Did you ever wonder what happens to those people that just leave home and disappear but their car is found out on a dirt road?
Between bigfoot and these monsters, I think we know!
Killed by a Medical Radiology worker...
What would you do if this beast was coming at you?
Run for dear life?
Climb a tree?
Or simply get run over?

Over 1,800 lb. wild boar shot and killed in Conroe , Texas near the county airport, east of I-45 and near the community of Cut and Shoot.

Yep......only in Texas !
We were taught to stand still because their eye sight is poor. By standing still they probably would not see you and walk right on by. And No you cant out run them!! Look at how tall the grass and weed's are. How fast do you think you would be running thru that? I don't know about Ya'll but I'm a fat slow joker that would fall flat on my face after a few step's.

I live in E TX and there are lots of pigs here. One was killed in Gilmer not far from me about that size a few yrs ago. His testicles were as large as qt. cans.

According to a March 3, 2009 article in the Conroe Courier, no 1,800-pound wild boar has ever been seen near Conroe, Texas, let alone hunted, bagged, and photographed for posterity. Your average Texan feral hog weighs in at approximately 150 lbs., says a Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden quoted in the Courier. An exceptionally large one might tip the scales at 300.

In point of fact, it's doubtful there's a wild boar anywhere in the world that weighs 1,800 pounds. There have been reports of domestic hogs approaching or exceeding that size, but the largest documented specimens in the wild have topped out at 1,100 pounds or less.

Citing a report in a French hunting magazine, the Courier reveals that the boar in these pictures was actually a 781-pounder killed in Turkey in 2005 (the EXIF data embedded in the images confirms the photos were snapped on June 3 of that year). One visual clue — the "Nature Tours" logo on the side of a vehicle in one of the photos — indeed points to a Turkish hunting website on which the same images are displayed.

You might not want the bacon after you killed the hog. Son Joe and I each got a boar on a hunt I took him on for his high school graduation years ago. It was the worst meat I have ever tried to eat. Tough and stringy, I mean TOUGH & STRINGY!!! Smelled too bad to cook it indoors, even on the grill it was nasty. I don't like to shoot something and not eat it but even the dog just stared at that meat. Sad I imagine a female of the species would be OK though. Even a domestic boar will get that gamey flavor if it's not castrated young. I didn't know that at the time though. ???

Just for the record, a 150lb hog is a bada$$ animal. Running into an 800lb plus boar unexpectedly could be a bad deal. Their eyesight may not be the best but they can smell as well as we can see and maybe better. They drive the tusks into your legs down low and rip upwards with them if they're pissed and you give them the chance. But I guess one that tall might disembowel you because of it's height.

Its like the 'Giant Snake'. Nothing in the foreground to compare size, just in the background. So get a 300 pound boar, make everyone sit 15" back but look like they are right there...

That's good but it is only 5 shots and the beast might have to get a litlle too close to make it count.  If your not eating the meat anyway....I'm thinking about something with a 100 round drum on it  Smiley

Don't know about them big wild porkers, but the domestic ones we used to butcher on the farm were easily killed with a .22 short in the forehead, they dropped on the spot. Big 6,7 hundred pounders. Dad was a very good shot.  They weren't in a pen, just running around in the pig lot.  Hoser

Surprised those are genuine photos (from Turkey.)  To my (untrained) eye, they looked photoshopped......
