Being new to the Valk world I'm sure this has been addressed in the past.  Regardless, I'm going to change the oil on my Valk standard.  I've always looked upon K@N favorably.  However, I think I've read that Honda OEM filters are better.  Any suggestions for me.  Thanks guys!  Linedog Roll Eyes

You can go to shoptalk and look up generic parts and there is a whole list of filters to choose from. I've been running the ST6607  from Walmart for many years without any problems. cooldude

I use an oversized filter, PureOne PL14459. much much better than OEM and less $$
walmart ST3539A is the same size.

I paint them silver, same as the engine.

Used to use the KN and its a good filter and in chrome but its 14.00 so I bought the chrome cover and use the Pure One filter under it a better filter and cheaper price.

I use a PureOne PL14610.  It's the filter that fits a Civic as well.  Runs about $6.50 at Advance Auto. Never tried the 14459 (kinda big around), but that one will fit my Accord as well

I'd think that filter would be on a Harley. Valks should have a Fat Tire filter.

don't know why wix/napa are not listed as recomended. they are great filters and have a low micron rating. usually they list it and the by-pass pressures on their site.

Welcome, Linedog,

Here's a good comparison.  http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/FilterStudy.html

I use the Purolator Pure One PL14610 on the Valkyrie and VT1100T.  I also used it on the late, great 'wing.  Janet hasn't gotten to an oil change interval on the 750, yet.   cooldude

Thanks guys!  I appreciate the input!  I'm leaning toward the Busch oil filter.  Its dual purpose.  Drink the bear and forget the oil change!  cooldude cooldude Linedog

It's a bear to find the Wix filter on their website, but Wix's filter for the Valk is 51358.  It costs just about the same as OEM.  I discovered this by accident, but Wix 51356 fits the Valk as well, and it's a little larger than 51358.  It just so happens to be the same filter for my Nissan Maxima; it's only a few dollars less than 51358.  I don't know how it compares in size to CA ExhaustCoatings' Pure One PL 14459.  I get them at O'Reillys.  Look up O'Reillys; they do business under several different names.  Wix filters are flat black, like stock- no need to paint if you don't want to.

http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/PartDetail.asp?Part=51334  cross over to PL14459, is larger than wix 51358, has lower micro rating than 51358 at 19, Pl14459 is in the 12-15 range

http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/PartDetail.asp?Part=51358   this is the OEM replacement filter for the Valkyrie, GL1500 and GL1800
