I think this happened the week after we were out on the Three Sisters...

Also...
There was another rider from Austin who on Oct. 16th hit a deer out near the Three Sisters area, broke his left leg and did not go down!  He managed to bring his bike to a stop, used his hand to get his kick stand out and then call 911.  He was airlifted to BAMC in San Antonio with a compound fracture!

This is rut season, so watch out for those stupid deer!

Good post f-Stop, deer are everywhere, especially in the wooded areas. Ride safely.

We lost count of how many deer we saw Saturday and Sunday morning. It was a bunch. Also, I thought I saw a big brown rock in tall grass on the side of the road, but as we went by the cow raised it's head! That would certainly ruin your day.

There oughta be open season on those pesty size little critters just to reduce the numbers using anything other than a motorcycle to take 'em out! Used to be you would only see them early and late in the day. Lately they are everywhere all the time. Be careful out there folks. ~Jeff

I'm Old.  Just turned 66.  The things that never concerned me when I was in my 30's, I think about now.  One of them is hitting a deer on a motorcycle going 70mph.  I am not a hunter.  My wife loves all amimals.  If she finds a bug in the house she will capture it, now matter how long it takes her, then take it outside and set it free.  When she was a teenager her Mother acidentally ran over a chicken that was on her Grandmother's Ranch.  For an entire week she called her Mother a murderer.  A while back I was thinking about getting in the cattle business.  I'd be the only rancher who's steers would have to die of old age before I could take them to market.  Anyway getting off track.  Deer make a habit of changing locations either in the early morning hours or at dusk.  So if I'm on the bike, regardless of what the posted speed limit says, I slow way down.  If I was in a similiar situation as posted I would have been able to stop or manuver around that deer because I'd be going old man speed, about 40mph.  Hindsight is always 20/20, but being ultra careful when I'm on that bike is my middle name.  Live To Ride Another Day!
