I dropped my saddle bags off over two weeks ago. He said they would be ready in three to four days. I have called him and left messages, no call back. I passed him on the street and he waved, so i know he was not kid napped or anything. Is it me or do others have this problem of getting things done when they want them. When i tell someone i will do something, i will do it when i say. Maybe i was raised different. Oh well its just me blowing off steam. Or do some of you have the same story to tell.

Every painter I've ever had dealings with is like that . I've had 5 or 6 cars painted and 3 bikes and its always been like that  Undecided

Always remember...Good paint jobs ain't cheap , cheap paint jobs ain't good.

They come from the same genetic strain as gunsmiths. He said 3-4 days, he means 3-4 days once he starts working on them. That does not nessessarily start when you bring them in, nor does it begin on or about any date referanced in conversation unless Mars is in acendance and the fish are swimming sideways.  crazy2

However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

My painter has always taken at least 2 - 3 times longer than promised, but the results were always worth it.  Now, I just build that extra time into my schedule, and always have the work done during Chicago's "maintenance" season.

I had double trouble with mine, Had a local painter do the base and another 75 miles away do the airbrush, then back to the local guy for clearcoat.  They are independent and essentric to boot, but its worth it to stroke their egos and put up with the wait.

Yep, all of this sounds very familiar.... They will put you off and delay you here and there... The secret is to not pay them one thin dime until you get 100% of your painted parts back, finished to your specification.

Patience goes a long way with those guys too.... I know it's hard, especially when you want to ride so badly and the weather is turning off nice for a change.

I wanted to go over and shake my painter  tickedoff but my wife talked me out of it. We talked and I decided to "take the high road" for a change and it all worked out great.... My painted did an outstanding job on my bike pieces and even had to re shoot a few of them because of runs or other issues that I told him about when he would drop off a few pieces.

When we had begun, I told him up front that I wanted a "first rate" paint job, was paying for a first rate paint job and wasn't going to accept anything less. I held his feet to the fire and the job that I finally got is one that I can be happy with. Good Luck to ya! Ride Safely when you get it back together!
