Since I'm parting out my IS, in case I need to ship this out to some one, how would I go about preparing to ship the tank. I;m sure I can't ship something with gasoline in it.

My proposal;
remove tank
rempty gas
clean: flush with isopropanal alcohol, dry
supress rust and fumes: oil with fogging oil spray (prevent rust)

Sounds reasonable? Something else I need to do, or something done different?

Maybe spend a little money and rust proof the inside of the tank? I would think I would need to remove the fuel sending unit before doing something like that.

Thank you for any help.

Looks good. Remove the petcock and pack separately to prevent it from being impacted when the box is thrown about, gas cap and ring can stay on.

Double box with packing in both, the last tank shipped to me was dented when a fork truck pierced the box.

Thank you on the petcock. I was wondering about that. I didn't know if the person buying would even want it, so had forgotten to mention it. But having never taken a tank off yet, I've not seen the underside of the tank personally.
