Andrew Ryan Cade, 9 lbs., born at 1:00am this morning. It looks like big sister Emma is happy to see her new little brother. She was born while her daddy was in Afghanistan (he's in the Nat'l. Guard), he's been back about three months now. I just found out he's been accepted for training in a Special Forces unit, he's an EMT in Illinois and has had some additional training...some was in preparation to going to the Mideast. He had already done numerous jumps over there, going in to help evac wounded but went in ahead of the choppers to attend to their wounds and get them ready. Some of the conversations with him appeared to be a little difficult to talk about, apparently saw some nasty stuff. With his medical training he apparently is in demand, although his wife(my granddaughter) isn't real excited about his going back.

I have. Got to see him for just a few minutes earlier this year. He's a big guy(kid....no?), but he broke down in tears when I thanked him, so I gave him a hug. Told him I was glad to see him back. Told me that at first he thought he'd have a problem using a weapon against another human being. Told me that went REAL fast about the time a round pinged off a rock six inches from him. Talked about one guy that tried to sneak up on him and the guy he was treating, he heard something, spun around with his handgun(don't know what he carried) and fired point blank. Said the guy had a huge rock over his head and was going to bash him with it. When he picked up the guys weapon he saw it was out of ammo, apparently why he was coming at him with the rock. His guardian angel was certainly watching over him.
