Hi All,
        I have a nice bit of chrome trim for my interstate tank.. well I've just had the tank painted..I want to put the trim on..but I don't want to scratch the tank if you know what I mean.. so I want to put a protective covering on the underside of the trim.. have any of you done this.. if so what would be the best stuff to use.. It must not rot..must be thin..and if possible be able to stick to the trim..and easy to cut..any thoughts would help..recall

Recall, do you mean the chrome trim for the bottom/front edges of the tank? If so I think some vinyl packing tape (cut to the right width) might do the job. It's thin, flexible, will stick to the tank and is pretty tough.

If that's not what you mean, then as Rosanna Rosannadanna used to say...never mind.  coolsmiley

No its for the chrome trim down the centre of the tank.. should have said.. but now you mention it do they do that in a bigger size as I have my OEM saddle lids covered in leather and that would do nicely to finish them off

I put a chrome trim down center of my Interstate tank.  I ran electrical tape down the edges, and one across it, the electrical tape has stayed on with rain, and , though very thin, seems to give protection to the paint.

I use door trim on my tank I had to to 25 feet. Most auto store's sell it in cut lengths which is too short for our tanks.
