NC is going to take over Grandfather Mountain as a state park.
Grandfather Mountian is a great park with a mile high swinging bridge, great vantage points for scenic photos, a small zoo with Black Bears, and miles and miles of hiking trails. Grandfather Mountain (much like Chimney Rock) was a family owned attraction. Much like Chimney Rock the family wants out after all these years. NC is buying the attraction to keep as a state park and protect against the encroaching development.
Put it on the 'ride-to' list. Still a great spot and it should remain so even after the state takes over.
