http://www.newenough.com/street/closeouts/helmets/hjc/cl_max_solid_motorcycle_helmet.html

I bought one cause I need a new face shield which costs $25. So a new helmet cost me $65.

I can chuck my oldest helmet and use my next oldest for use on the KLR and this new one for when I ride the ST.

The oldest CL Max I have is about 5 years old so it's time to dump it anyway.

Thanks, got one on order...great deal on a back-up helmet (and long-distance - less road noise than my IS-33, just not as comfortable for around town riding).

Thanks again, for the heads-up...

Dang....that's cheap, is this for real?  Have you actually received this helmet and have it in hand?

Newenough.com is 100% reputable.

EDIT

I've received notification and tracking number that the order placed yesterday will ship UPS today.

HJC CL MAX at New Enough

It's a modular, so, yes, the chin bar will also flip up.  I have a silver CL MAX for which I paid a little more than $89 at my local dealer.

Still $150 at local. For the couple they have in stock. As they are clearance at New Enough, maybe dealer can't get more?

Anyway, ordered 2nd one, for my daughter...

I got one this spring and love it. I paid $120 at a dealer for last years closeout. It's really a great helmet. and it came in 3xl size.  I just picked up a 3xl Scorpion EXO-900 Modular Helmet for only $65.00 at Chicago Cycle during their closeout auction. They auctioned about 150 helmets and most went for around $50.00. some as little as $10. It's also a good helmet also but it lists around $275.00 Sad

Thanks for posting!  I've been thinking I needed a new full face helmet.  Just hope it fits now.

PS - they let you donate $1 of your purchase to a group to go into the 'kitty' to be used for rallies, fund raisers etc.  No Valk groups so I donated to Spiderlovers in honor of Flamingo Babe.   Wink

Was not happy with the craftmanship of the helmet. The dropdown sun shield did not work, and the plastic trim along the bottom was brittle and broke. Sent the helmet back twice for repairs the first repair nothing was fixed ,the second time they sent me a new helmet with the plastic trim already broke. I got my money back and bought a light weight Nolan N-90 for $30.00 less than the EXO-900

Hope I have better luck than you, Stude. Ordered one for a back-up helmet this morning in 3XL. I hope it fits, too, and will check it out carefully.

The CL Max does no have a drop down sun shield.

I have worn a CL Max fot the past 7 years - no problems.

Received and it has a August 2010 sticker inside, so not old stock.

The only reason I buy the xxxl CL-Max is because it's the ONLY helmet I can find that fits my melon head. All fixed helmets make me look like a chipmunk with a mouth full of basketballs.

I think the CL Max would not be good for a child. The padding at the front of the chin bar is non exsistent.

 cooldude cooldude

I got this helmet after reading this post and am very happy with it.  Went on 600 mile ride up in high desert and to Nevada over the last 2 days with temps from 40s to mid 50s and it was great.

I have been using a half helmet over summer in desert and this is a welcome addition.  Warm, quiet, comfortable.  I had to adjust it around my big, fat head  Roll Eyes (XXL) a few times as it was pressing on my ears, but i'm sure it will break in nicely.  Thanks for tip Britman.

Have always been impressed by the quality of HJC mc helmets.  My local dealer wants around 140 for this helmet.

Tempeted to buy this one but have 12 helmets from high end Shoey to 3 surplus Chinese Military Aviation Helmets.

OK, I have put about 200 miles on the new helmet...

The jury is still out for me...I have been riding with 1/2 helmet for the last three years, this one seems to be loud and there is a lot of buffeting and wind noise. It is comfortable and I will continue to wear it thru out the winter months. So I will be posting more over the next few months...

I wore mine when I took my "new" Valk for a one hour test drive. After half an hour, I was getting a terrible headache from pain across the forehead where the helmet fit very tightly. I'll try it without wearing a bandana and see if that makes a difference. If not, at least I have a relatively inexpensive backup helmet.
