Just Riding The Many Storms Of Life

Ft.Worth, Texas

« on: November 18, 2010, 06:19:42 PM »

My name is Walt Gibson also known as Stormrider65. This is my first post, (the first of many) I am now officially a dragon owner.  I bought her november 13th.  I want to thank all those members who have encouraged and helped me, and kept me informed on what to look for.  God, first of all, my wife for giving me permission to buy my dragon Grin,  JoeValkIS, (who helped me get in touch with Jimmie) Hayhauler, (who came to my rescue from South Houston to just north of San Antonio Texas), Chrome, RDKLL, Daniel Meyers, Oz, and I know I am forgetting more but my oldtimers is acting up again  Cheesy  I know this is the start of a wonderful journey.  I have never been with a riding club ever that cares as much as the VRCC.  I brag about my club to everyone who will listen.  I am proud to be a part of something that is worldwide and so caring about someone who you have never known.  Thank you all for supporting someone you've never met, Me.  Be safe and God bless you all.

Good to have you aboard.  Cheesy You have already had contact with a few good folks. There is a bunch more here. There is not much that a person could need ,or want to do that one of us has not already done. And most will be glad to share their experience. or knowledge. Its been a good experience for me. Sure you will find the same !

Welcome aboard!!

Don't forget your hip waders (it gets a little deep around here at times Grin), a stout stick (for beating deceased equines, doncha know Evil), a mind already made up about everything under the sun, and a willingness to express those opinions loudly and frequently!!!

Seriously - this is a great bunch of folks, eager to share their knowledge, friendship and experiences.

BTW, I hope to be in your shoes come Sunday. I'm going on a short road trip south of here to look at a Valk for sale - hope to come back with it on my trailer, if I can get it priced right.

Welcome to the asylum Walt!  You're gonna like it here.  Like others have said, someone on this board has done to their bike whatever you are thinking about doing to yours, so don't hesitate to ask questions or use the search feature to find what you are looking for.

RJ, he is in or near Ft. Worth, TX, so another rider added to the great DFW group!

Ride safe and good luck.

See ya down the road,

Welcome Walt,

As you have read from others, this is a great place to share your information. They welcomed me back in August when I got onboard. Good people here and willing to share.

Welcome and I have to repeat, there are some great people here. Just bought a steel replacement for the alternator cover from Gary. Support the locals and the vendors here, they all love this bike and want to help.

Welcome aboard from the West Coast.  I bought my '97 in Bedford, TX and rode it home to CA a week before Christmas in 2008.  Yeah, BRRR, but what an adventure!

Be prepared for the sudden attention.  Folks walking by your ride, checking it out, pausing, looking some more, then slowly walking away while still looking.  Oh, and the window that will get cranked down while you are in traffic with someone saying "nice bike!" or "what year is that?"; but my favorite is "SIX cylinders??"

Enjoy!

When riding your Valkyrie with "Dickie's Bib Overalls" on when its hot out. And ya wanna tuck the upper
half of the bib in so you can get an even tan. Don't try it while going 70 mph on the super slab, cause
when you unhook the bib and stand up off the seat on pegs. The down draft coming off the fairing will
fill the overalls with air causing them to wod up around your knees and and you cant pull them back up
or sit down.
Don't ask me how I know
 crazy2
P.S. Nice looking Valkyrie you got Walt
