« on: November 19, 2010, 03:08:52 PM »

A few of us are hookin' up in the morning @ Hardee's in Clinton, Tennessee ...210 Clinch Ave. at 10:00 a.m. I had planned on staying away from my bikes until after I found out how the speeding ticket I got last week was going effect my world ( it's possible those points could get my job  Sad  ) . Today my wife tells me " You're going to stay off those motorcycle's " ....Let's Ride  cooldude

None of my bidness Joe, but perhaps it might be a good idea to put your slowest (or most deliberate) guy out front (for awhile).

Course I know... no one is going to claim that particular title.  LOL

And don't ride sweep either.

I.E., it's almost impossible to get a performance award in the middle of the pack.

There but for the Grace of God buddy.   angel

I love to run fast, and exceed the posted speeds every time I ride (and I'm retired and ride all the time).  And I have 40 years of practice at being careful and eagle-eyed while hauling ass, and knowing where the cops sit, and picking my spots, and not getting tickets.............. most of the time.

But every so often, slammo, you play you pay, and 15 and 20 overs are painful.  I don't mind the expense of the ticket so much (and it has gotten ridiculous in No VA), but points and insurance costs that go on your record for years, just suck.

Get a deliberate rider to lead, and follow.  I also seem to be more mellow if I listen to mellow music (not the Allman Bros or Van Halen).    You know... Puff the Magic Dragon and songs like that.  Hahahaha

As you know those are the inside voices you need to listen to. Those are the voices that say "Hey I haven't seen a deer today". And you should know to roll off the throttle.

Here in my part of Indiana they have a deferment program. What it means is that they offer to let you pay a much larger fine and they keep the ticket off your record if you don't get another one in that county for at least 6 months. From 16 to 19 the Duc Man would have been uninsurable without the "deferment program". I don't know if it's an Indiana only thing or not? I do know it's a sweet deal for speeders and for the local government's "spread the wealth" programs.

The fact I have CDL with HAZMAT endorsement is what's going to get me....I hired a attorney today he's local to where I got the ticket and has been there for many years....Fingers crossed  Undecided

Radar Detectors are illegal for Interstate Commerce.

But some have used them with success and good on them.

Tickets are a fee grab and do not contribute to the general safety of the public.

It's a shame people who can handle the speed are not allowed to like on the Autobahn.

I can travel at 90 on the interstate a lot better than some people drive slowly to the market.

It's all relative.

But these folks really take the cake.

A bunch of folks have posted good advice, but the fact is, it is all about how they do it locally and in the court which has jurisdiction of your ticket.  You did the right thing to get a local mouthpiece.  Normal folks are allowed X points per year; CDL guys only get 1/3X points.  Deferment, or delay, or some other plea agreement to a no point violation is what you need, and if anyone can get it for you, a local guy is your best bet.  My experience tells me, if it is possible, it will be expensive.... bring money.

For example, to my knowledge, I am the only guy who ever got a plea bargain from DUI to attempted DUI in the State of MI (2 pts).  The judge was a personal friend, and the client was my brother.  It also helps to know the cops.  I was a local guy.

And radar detectors are only partially helpful.  Cannot have them in VA.  My last big performance award three years ago was the same as yours.... comin round the bend lickety split and there he is, with lidar, and me in the crosshairs; gotcha!  Detector would have been no help because no electronics whatsoever is being transmitted until he pulls the trigger... the laser hits you and records speed in about a nanosecond.  There is no defense to this......... you just have to go in and plead STUPID (a term of art LOL).

This is the song I will be listening to tomorrow.  TMN

Al that cracks me up.  I tell Joe he needs to listen to Puff the Magic Dragon to slow down, and you post another song written to that very tune.  I prefer the Peter, Paul and Mary version.

The ride was great!  Weather perfect and the roads magnificant!  Five Valks and a lady on a Road Glide made the ride.  Thru farm lands, mountain passes, river bottoms to the Vet's monument on Clinch Mountain!   What a day to savour!  I'm sure pics will be posted later.
