THIS IS MY FIRST POST ON THIS FORUM. HAVE BEEN LOOKING OVER ALOT SINCE SIGNING UP AND LEARNED ALOT FROM EVERYONE ON VALKYS. BACK IN MARCH I TRADED A 07 ROADSTAR SILVERADO FOR A 99 INTERSTATE WITH 28000 MILES ON THE ODO. EVERYBODY I KNOW THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY BUT LITTLE DO THEY KNOW HAHA. HAVE BEEN COMPLETLEY SATISFIED EVER SINCE WITH THE VALKY. NOW IM WANTING TO MOVE UP A BIT AND AM LOOKING FOR A LATE MODEL GOLDWING. OF COURSE THE VALKY IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. BUT MY WIFE STARTED RIDING WITH ME WHEN I GOT THE VALKY AND WANTS A LITTLE MORE PLUSHER AND SMOOTHER RIDE. NOW TO MY QUESTION I TALKED TO A GUY TONIGHT AND HE SAID THAT HONDA WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FRAME CRACKING HE REALLY DID NOT HAVE ALL THE DETAILS ON THIS PROBLEM BUT I THOUGHT SOME OF YOU GUYS MIGHT SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS PROBLEM IF THERES ANY TRUTH TO IT. ANY HELP WOULD BE HELPFULL TO KNOW BEFORE I START LOOKING FOR ONE THANX IN ADVANCED S. FLOYD

Yes the Honda Goldwing has had a lot of frame trouble.

All they do is reweld a certain area and reinforce it.

NHTSA made them do the recall and after that they are good to go.

Pretty sad on a top of the line bike a person could exp. a frame crack.

Here is a website to direct you in buying a Gold Wing of that time period when the frames were

cracking.

There is a punch mark placed or made to an area of the bike to let you know the repair has been

performed.

Early model Yamaha Roadstars such as mentioned in your post were recalled because a gear could

fall off a shaft and cause the tranny to lock up, my boss had one of those and had the

recalled tranny and motor taken apart and updated.

No harm done, welcome to the board.  When you learn how to navigate the website and forum, you can find out just about everything about Valkyries, and lots of different opinions about everything.  That is what makes it interesting.  Hoser

Welcome HuntersPappaw,

Your local dealer can tell you the recall history - and if there are any outstanding recalls - on any bike you are considering if you give them the VIN.

WHAT? Cheesy
If you buy and 03 or 04, make sure the owner has documentation it was repaired or inspected & ok. If
Not, have it inspected at a Honda dealer.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Coworker has a 01 or 02 and it did not have frame or cooling problems.
