Personally I could care less what anyone thinks.  Many don't understand that the Marine right next to you might be the one that has to provide blood when you are wounded.

I know that they have stopped the California order and I hope better heads prevail.

I did my 23 and proud to be a Marine.  If some one wants an opinion about the Corps, then join, serve, and sacrific.  Then you can have an oppinion.  OBTW pardon the spelling.

LandElephant, in a long lost life, I may have known you.  What MOS were ya?  Ya didnt play with CH-46 helos by any chance did ya?  The Morse name rings a bell.

... As for GySgt Berres's statement... Semper Fi Brother!

The armed services are not a place to EXPERIMENT with social engineering.  The armed forces are there for ONE thing.  To KILL the F00KING enemy.  Anything that interferes with that mission is BS.

Political correctness... BS

The majority of humans on the planet, and in the Corps are straight.  No one wants to wonder about the guy/gal taking a shower beside them.  If (on a visceral level) it upsets the majority of the Marines, then ya dont need it.

Women in combat roles.. NO!
Gays in the military... NO!
Women on ships... NO!  (waste of money and serious distraction)

The military is NOT a civilian branch of government.  It is the warrior caste.  Leave them to police themselves and to make their own rules.  As for society in general... what ever....

Sudge,
Spent my first 3 years pounding dirt.  Rotated to the air Wing and I was a 6683 /6482  (ECM Tech I level).  Worked on RF4B's out of El Toro (VMFP-3).  Worked on F-4s, A-4s, A-6s.  Rotated to NAS Willow Grove where I worked A-4s, CH-53s, and P-3 Orions.  went to MCAS Camp Pendleton worked on AH-1T and Ws, UH-1s, and OV-10s.

Last Fleet deployment was with CMAGT 3-88 on USS Debuque with AH-1Ws, UH-1s, and CH-46s.  Worked on British CH-53Es off of Yeman.

Cruised on USS Midway, USS Ranger, USS Kitty Hawk, USS Nimitz, USS Tarawa, USS Blueridge, USS Tuscaloosa, and USS Debuque.  Don't know if we crossed paths but I spent a lot of time at sea.

WOW, I was stationed in Tustin, CA from 1983 to 1987. I worked 'I' level avionics (tron buster) and was attached to 462 so I made two trips to Okinawa. I worked on all the little black boxes that the 'O' level crew removed from CH-53/E and CH-46's. Never actually flew in a Marine copter though. Tustin has long since been closed as a Marine Corps base.

Yea Tustin is closed and the gov gave the base to the city of Tustin.  Now they are going to demolish the big hangars.  Largest freaking wooden structures in the world and they are gonna take em down for housing...

Idiots.

Land Elephant, we didnt cross paths.  USS Nassau, USS Austin, USS Iwo Jima.  Those were ships I spent time on.  All my time with the exception of a few CAX deployments and Bridgeport trips was east coast and those related cruises.

And there was a long string of US Supreme Court decisions to this effect.  Today, who knows.
