Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: November 20, 2010, 05:02:21 PM »

Great ride today the weather was awesome for mid November.First picture taken in my hometown early this morning before I met up with the other riders...The main street of Clinton is'nt much anymore with several empty buildings since Wally World came to town up near I-75 at the Clinton exit.

We took all country backroads today with a break stop at Petticoat Jct.( I forget what they call the near by town  Undecided  ) .

Another stop was at Clinch River Winery a couple bikes with us was loaded with wine when we left  Smiley Everytime I've been here the parking lot has a bunch of dogs hangin' out...Cool sign

Anyone ever see one of these a Hansa  ??? This was on the side porch at The Clinch River Winery.

Next stop was The Veternas Overlook Monument.

Taken from the overlook..

The bikes and the group I rode with today showin' the love.

Left to Right...Gordon ( Lucky 13 )... Greg...Big Al....Bernie ( Dubsvalk ) ...Tammy

We had lunch just up the road from the monument and I found out a few things ...I don't really care for vinegar pie and Lucky 13 really, really  does'nt care for it  Smiley   Thanks Bernie for buying the pie for us to " test "  cooldude

If you've ever had the desire to cross the Hwy.33 bridge for the first time or just to cross again you need to hurry cause it won't be long now before they blow it into Norris lake.....Thanks everyone who rode today y'all understood my situation and we did'nt push the envelope too many times today  cooldude

C-Clamps,,,,,,,,,,,, a 6 incher saved the historical sign at the overlook.

Good Ride today.

The word of the day was gas mileage.

35 for me and 40 for Greg.

But those two Tennessee High Way Patrolmen left on the side of the road.

Priceless.

Thanks for Leading Lucky 13 , you SAVED OUR BACON.

Did my heart good to not see those Blue Lights on my Buddies Tail.

Rock on Joe you will be fine.

The Good Lord Will Provide,,,,,,,, has always been my motto.

He's never let me down yet.

You won't be let down either.

You are feeding too many mouths,,,,,,, for him to let you go without.

At this time as we speak I am going on the record as liking the vinegar pie.

The wife likes the cheese I bought at the Winery.

And the Muscadine Wine, well let's just say it is fine.

Cheese and wine will make you whine, especially the next morning after drinking a whole bottle.

The ride was rated by two certified ride instructors as techinically correct.

But those yahoos blew too many stop signs to be my heros.

How long does it take to stop put a foot down and say hay I stopped.

But they are such good people , they are OK in my book.

Yes I do keep a book.. Coot , Joe, Britman, Strider, Don, Tracy, Gordon, Greg, Joe, Big Don Popcorn,

Land Elephant, Mark Detonator, Punisher, Sweet tea, Bird, Monshine, Chromedome,  Flask,

Hubcaps, AND SO MANY OTHERS , you are in my Book.

Love you all.

Joe, those pics sure bring back memories! Petticoat Junction is in the bustling Greater Washburn Metro area Grin, Pop. 212.  I've been everywhere you took a pic of except inside the restaurant at the Veteran's Overlook. Our farm was about two miles from Petticoat Junction on Liberty Hill Road.

Thanks for the pics and ride report.

What is that 'quilt design' in the corner of that old barn? I see them everywhere in iowa and never got around asking anyone.

Those are "hex signs" used to ward off various bad things from happening to your crops, animals, etc.

They are of Amish origin (in this country anyway) if I remember correctly.

Awesome pics Joe.  I  would post mine but they are much the same as yours.  And I am computer illiterate and haven't mastered moving them from a camera to a computer yet!  The ride was wonderful with a great bucnh of guys and one lady who rides her Harley like she was born on it!  It was my first ride with the "Wild Bunch", but it won't be my last.

Joe,  great pics. Maybe check out Sachs motorcycles, used to be manufacturer years ago. I used to have a Cushman similar to the one in your pic, when I was a kid in Iowa. I think ours was about a 1960's. Used it a bit on the farm, and a play toy. Great for pulling sleds!

Not sure what you're seeing as dial up would not down load that many pics. But in NC, Va and TN they may be just what you said. Quilt patterns. In western NC the trend of enlarging them and  putting them on barns and other buildings was started by a group of ladies in Ashe Co., NC. They wanted to preserve some of the patterns that had been around for generations. It got so big that now you see them every where you go in western NC and they are no longer just the older quilt patterns. I don't have the web address but I believe you can contact the group and they will make you one. Not sure what they charge.
