Took the bike to the mechanic. He replaced the front tire and put new brake pads front and back.

Now there is a buzz at the front. When I just touch the front brake the buzz starts. It gets louder when the brakes are applied with force. Took it back and he cannot find a reason for the buzz. He replaced one of the keepers. For lack of a better name. That seemed to stop the buzz for a while and now it is back.  Other than that, it rides like a dream.

Any Idea people!

Are they OEM pads or after market?

Some after market pads do not like OEM rotors and will set up a racket.

Under normal circumstances the problem should abate as the pads wear-in.

Of course this is contingent upon the proper re-assembly of all the parts.

Yep .... those EBC pads will buzz but you get used to it. I put a pair on right before I went to the Black Hills and thought there was something wrong but couldn't find any thing wrong. Finally figured out it was related to the pads and holes in the rotors. Reminds me of a cicada buzzing sound.

Yep, that's the sound.  Probably EBC pads.  Guess time will tell! Just irritates me!

Yup, I hadn't thought about it but yeah a cicada.  I know it's just the hard material of the pad against the holes and you can "almost" feel it. But it's nothing I am worrying about.

Here is the fiche for the front caliper:

http://www.hdlparts.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=148608&category=MOTORCYCLES&make=HONDA&year=2000&fveh=3474

If you look at part #7  spring pad,,,,,,, this is the part in the caliper that is designed to help alleviate the problem being experienced as a "buzzing"

There is no guarantee that the noise will be eliminated but a new spring pad may help.

Ricky, thanks for less than 5 bucks, it can't hurt to try. The bike has over 40k on it and bet those are the original springs. Could be weakened.
