Years ago, engineers, physicists, and mathematicians proved beyond a doubt that FM radio was impossible.  Major Armstrong laughed, then went and invented it.   

I tell that story to my youngest, who in a few months will be getting his degree in Astro-Physics.  I tell him it's his job to invent the warp drive.  To my dismay his answer is that travel beyond the speed of light isn't possible.
