I am attempting to clean the wheels on my 2000 YM Standard. I have tried aluminum polish and have gotten some improvement but I still have some road grim that I can't get off. A friend of mine suggested WD 40 for the wheels and Brake Cleaner for the bottom of the motor.
Anyone had success with either of these products for wheels and motor?

I'm real partial to Flitz for cleaning the metal. I especially like it on the wheels, first with a coarse paper towel, swapping it out when it gets good and black, and finishing with a powerball shine.

If the wheels are pitted badly... Start with emery cloth (not too coarse). Then switch to polish once the pitting and corrosion is sanded off.

If you do use Brake Cleaner.... be very careful, as it will take paint off anything it touches. I am very careful with it myself

Ouch... emery cloth I think Soft Scrub with a kitchen scrubby pad, then Brillo and finally.... White Diamond. Worked well on wheels I had neglected for a few years. I used the Mother's mini power ball with the white diamond as well and it sped things up.
