Well, here she is - my own Fat Lady! Drove down to the Birmingham area yesterday afternoon, took her for an hour test ride (how neat!), and she followed me home!!

My original plan was to drive her home and I even had my nephew lined up to drive my truck home, but at the last moment, I decided I didn't want any surprises at 70 MPH on I-65 coming home, so we took the trailer and loaded her up for the trip home. The new HF wheel chock did its job and the tie downs kept her in her place.

This morning I used her to go all kinds of places and all I can say is, "Oh, my Gawd!!! I didn't know motorcycles could be like this!" Seriously - everything else I've ever ridden pales in comparison.

Now I'm ready to do some riding. Smokin' Joe, I'd sure like to go on one of your East Tennessee rides. We'll have to plan a trip to see the two granddaughters in Knoxville and I'll leave my Bride with them and I'll spend a day riding!

Congrats, what a beauty.  I did a similar thing last July when I picked up my IS in Grand Junction.  Was planning to ride her home to Austin but decided I woulda baked my butt running through all that 100 degree summer heat.  I'm still smilin' too.

I live near Decatur and their are a few valkyrie riders in this area, so lets get together and ride sometime. Looking foward to meeting you.cooldude

Just remember this:  Honda only made so many perfect Valks, the rest they painted black.

Oh man. . . that first ride on a Valk is something you’ll always remember. Your post brings back memories for all of us brother. My first ride was with my wife on the back in a busy downtown metropolis in semi-heavy traffic, but before we even got to ‘clean air’ my bride tapped me on the shoulder and said; “We’re buying this!”  Hard to believe that was almost ten years ago. . .  and we still get that giddy thrill that makes you grin like a fool when we pull her out onto the street and head out for a ride.

Thanks for the remember when. For me it was February 2001 and I bought her brand new as a leftover.

I've added a few doo-dads since then. Everytime I get off her I walk away, admire her beauty and think "I love that bike."

That's pretty much what happened with my test ride... about a quarter of a mile had slipped under her wheels when Mrs. elraque said "This one likes me. Let's take it home."

It's been a honeymoon ever since.

I had two Valks I was considering: this one and a '99 I/S. I went to see the Tourer first. I was driving down the street that the owner lived on and I could see the Valk and his other bike, as they sat in the driveway, from 4-5 houses away. At that point, I knew I was buying this bike, no questions asked, but I did take an hour long test ride, with the owner leading the way on his other bike.
