Does anyone here understand the finer nuances of the Honda Parts numbering system?

I am compulsive about details...

When I took the aftermarket bags off my new ride I had to replace the fender rail bolts with new OEM chrome flanged bolts.  They weren't too expensive and I like the idea of it being all original.

While there, I noticed the shock bolts on my bike are cosmically UGLY!  So I tried the threads of the new bolts and they fit for the upper and lower bushing bolts... I just need different lengths.  This sent me off into a research spiral looking through microfiches of Hondas.

I actually found the required upper bolt.  It is the rear shock bolt off a 2002 VTX1800C.  Honda calls it a  90125-KR3-000 and is threaded at 8X12

As of yet I have been unable to divine any way to predict the part number of a OEM Chrome bolt that is 10X35...

Any help would be appreciated...

I like your idea of everything original, but in the bolts and nuts area, I'd just go to a Bolt Supply store and get what ya want in Chrome or Stainless Steel for about 1/2 the price.

If you should happen to go to a car tire, you'd have to do the fender mod and ain't no way you will find  the required carriage bolt in Honda's part.

Just a suggestion. cooldude

I do the same thing as RJ. Ace Hardware is a good source also.

I live in San Marcos, Texas... no metric stainless here, bro!  It's 42 miles to the nearest "nuts and bolt store" heading north all the way through downtown Austin.  32 miles to the nearest "nuts and bolt store" heading south... right through San Antonio and some of the heaviest traffic anywhere... by comparison to all the running around, the $2.19 for the mail order OEM chrome bolt holding my fender rails on doesn't seem so bad...

Perhaps I wasn't being clear, I ALREADY have what I need for mounting both fenders, including the "nut job." (which I have been called before...) I am wanting to find some way to find to find similar chrome Honda bolts to use for the upper and lower shock mounting bolts... I know they are out there... Ive seen them on similar bikes.

i don't think you understand.

i told my wife one day that i was going to "farm & fleet", it's a store only ten miles away from the house.  she left a voice mail on my phone three hours later wondering where the hell i was.  funny thing, i was down by the mississippi river, about 80 miles in the opposite direction of "farm & fleet"......  there's something about the valkyrie that'll make you do that sort of thing.  so in reality, those stores aren't that far away!!
