Still trying to decide what to buy. Haven't shot anything, yet. I read somewhere that the XD is less expensive than a Glock and just as reliable. Thoughts?

Nice gun, more safeties, shoots nice. Can't do any trigger mods or upgrades unless you send it to $pringfield factory.
Glock may cost more, but you can find uber mods available for them if you so desire.
YMMV I own both.

I have a XDM 40 and my oldest son has an XD Subcompact 40. The XDM fits my hand best and has a better overall feel. Both are great weapons.

I have the XD 45 in the 4" service model. I shoot it better than a Glock.

Bought a XD40 Subcompact last fall and three spare 12 round clips at a gun show. Like it pretty good. The clips are normal @$45. Got mine for $30 ea. Clock's accs are cheaper. You can also buy spare barrells in different calibres for the same Glock. All in all, I don't intend on making mods so the XD40 was my choice. Feels great in my big hands with the 12 round clip. Also, it fits nicely in any of my jacket chest pockets.

A better handgun, more options, more features. Go to both of their websites and do the research. When you finally shoot one you will be hooked. Fantastic value! They also have one of the best and informative handgun web-sites in the industry. You don't need to do mods with this gun, done right, out of the box!

I dont care for the Glocks OR the XD, however if that was the only choice, the XD would get my cash.
I have shot a few friends Glocks and one (BIL's) XD in 45. The XD felt a lot better in my hand than the Glocks. The Glock palm swell just does not make it for me. The accuracy in the Glock was OK, the XD was better for me.
Go to a gun shop and hold both of them if you cannot go rent one somewhere. Close your eyes and point it at something, then open your eyes. The one that is more pointed toward what you are looking at is MOSTLY a better fit for you because it is more your natural point of aim.
Glocks point down for me, 1911's point well and the XD pointed well. I just dont care for that type of trigger.
