Leather Lyke Bags

Hi Everyone. Since I bought my 1997 Valk back september I have been looking for some Leather Lyke bags. The only storage on the bike was a small (about half the size of a toaster) bag behind the sissy bar. Just room enough for phone sunglasses etc. I have been checking eBay and Classified ads here with little luck. I finally struck paydirt. Found an ad on the VRC classified for a near new set of leather lyke bags. The bages are in wonderful shape and lots less than new ones, with all the mounting hardware. They are coming from a member in Wisconsin. Just goes to show ya, in most things, perservierence pays off. The classifieds are a great place to shop. As soon as I figure out how to post a picture, i'll post some before and after shots.

Good price!
If these are originals, I would highly recommend doing a re-eforcement of the gromment area. Go into the archived Tech and search for Leather Lyke. Later models have not seemed to have problem of breaking above the grommet because Leather Lyke made some changes. If you over do the backing plates, you can go to CableOrganiser.com and order replacement grommets that are a bit wider in the groove.
Yes, I had to do the rebuild after both of mine broke over the mounting brackets at the rear.

One key to NOT breaking out the mounts is to NOT put pressure on them. Do not stuff, and push down trying to stuff things in. SUPPORT the bags while stuffing, so that pressure is NOT on the mounts.

Found the information regarding the mount issue on the Leather Lyke Bags.
Thanks for the information. Now all I need to know is how to upload a couple
of pictures, before and after shots when I get the bags installed.
