Some Classic Blues/Rock from the Allman Brothers

I'm not sure music can get much better than this.
Allman Brothers - Jessica

This song always reminded me of walking in and out of the shade along a creek bank on a sunny spring morning. Don't know why, but it always has. Hope someone remembers to play it at my funeral, I can't think of a better send off.

This may be a little lesser known. There wasn't room for it on the original "At the Fillmore East" live albums. Elvin Bishop sat in with the Brothers and sang this one at that famous concert. The guitar work can almost "make you bleed". Now, that's blues. Sweet.

I have all the Allman Brothers on CD been one of my favorite since I was a kid.
We rode down to Macon , Georgia a few years ago and stopped to see Duane Allman and Barry Oakley buried side by side and both killed in a motorcycle crash just over a year apart
Barry Oakley's sister was having the graves closed off with a observation deck to keep people from having sex doing drugs and pouring whiskey and beer on the graves...When we was there the city of Macon had a " STOP WORK " order on the deck
As you can see from my pictures the graves was covered in plastic.
We also on this same ride rode on down to Jacksonville , Florida and visted Ronnie Van Zant , Allan Collins and Steve and Cassie Gains ( Lynyrd Skynyrd ) ...Billy Powell was still alive in 2007 ....Sounds like another road trip to see his grave site and see if Macon,GA let Oakley's sister finish that deck. We called this ride " The Southern Rock Memorial Ride " some called it " The Dead Rocker Ride " ???
We also made a stop at The Swamp on this ride as well....One of my favorite rides we had a great group of riders that rode hard and stayed in a tight group.

Even us boys to the north can appreciate great southern blues/rock.
"Midnight Rider" was always my favorite...

I remember when you did " The Southern Rock Memorial Ride ". Gotta be one of the coolest Valk rides I've heard about.
I've got most of the Allman Brothers 70's era CD's but I kind of quite following them after that.
Here's another valk ride/gathering I might have seen an Allman Brothers shirt in.

Thanks for the great thread!
Blue Sky and Melissa were the only 2 tracks on my 1st mp3 player, for about 2 years! Didn't matter much whether it was on "repeat"or "random"... ;-)

"Jessica" is one of the coolest songs ever! I have it on my MP-3 player... It's one of the best Crusin' songs.
When you're on a road trip on the bike and you play this song while crusin' down the interstate on your way to... maybe InZane on a sunny day... it doesn't get much better than that!
It's like the soundtrack to your life at that moment.
Thanks for posting, Frye!
