Spoke with Willow recently - I'm increasing my sponsorship of the club.
In line with that -  I was offered a special purchase opportunity from
my 5 inch stacks supplier - American Chrome - which helps me offer this
to the club - I'm taking their discount, adding a discount of my own,
and announcing this -

Any purchase of MarkT pipes with 5 inch stacks and at least one option
where I can order the stacks from the supplier by December 15 - gets
another option FREE: either FREE CROSSOVER, or FREE ORGAN PIPES,
or FREE 5-INCH SILENCERS!
The qualifying purchased options are Crossover, 5 inch silencers, Organ Pipes.

If this will work as a suggestion for what your lady can put under the tree
for you - I will provide a beautiful certificate for unwrapping - as the
pipe build plus shipping time will put us past Christmas.

I think most folks here know about my site, but for any newer riders - here's a link to my exhaust page.  BTW, I have a lot of tech articles on my site too.  Just follow the nav buttons.

Mark, do you happen to have a sound byte of those? I just showed the picture to my wife, her answer....."if you can figure out how to pay the real estate tax bill this month, go for it." Kinda like pouring water on a drowning man.  Grin

Just in case, will the crossover work with the centerstand, and do you have a price in mind? Email me direct if you like.

Dang John,

Good question.  I'm looking through my files and it looks like I've never actually set up a recorder to capture the sound of silencers, though I invented them (or at least the Valkyrie silencer appl) years ago.  Or the sound of 5" stacks or the Organ pipe adaption.  Took lots of pictures...  Mostly I ship out of state, so I don't hear them either.  Sometimes I get to do a set & install them here - and I should have thought to get out a recorder.

I do have 5" stacks on Deerslayer.  But mine are turnouts so I can't put in silencers.  Maybe someone here on the board has recorded the sound.  I can tell you, the sound with glasspacks and 5" stacks is very close to 4", both with and without silencers.  The Organ Pipes reduces the volume a little more.  The timbre of the glasspacks - deep and rumbly - remains with the silencers, but the volume is reduced to about 1/4.  Somewhat louder than stock, but not much.

The Crossover works with the Rivco stand, per feedback I've received as well as pics I've seen.  I have to run to town right now - later tonight I'll stick up a pic here of the Crossover, and find that pic of the Rivco stand installed.  I have pics of the crossover on my exhaust page, if you want to look now.  See http://www.horseapple.com/Valkyrie/Valk_Products/M2W_Exhaust__System/m2w_exhaust__system.html

Mark, I have a set of your silencers in my 4" pipes built by Viper Creations. Nice sound, quick in/out as my tastes vary, usually will leave them out around town but the drone on the highway gets to me without them, they have a good bark above 3k. Just wondered how the sound differed from what I now have. One thing I did with the current silencers....when I first installed them, I recessed them about 7". You don't see them unless you bend waaaay over and look up inside the pipes. Recessing them also makes a slight change in the harshness of the sound, some have said it gives it a small block Chevy sound....not sure about that but there's no mistaking it when they're not installed. If you don't have a recording, don't fret, just wondered if there was a large change with the 5".

Compared to Viper pipes - he doesn't use glasspacks.  I'm pretty sure the sound of glasspacks is deeper, more rumbly than what you have now.  5" stacks sound compared to 4" - less of a difference there, than the difference of glasspacks compared to other muffler types.  5" stacks might be a bit bigger, fuller sound - but listening to 18" glasspacks - esp Cherry Bombs - with 4" stacks is a good approximation.

I think a better benefit of 5" stacks - besides the great look - is they don't get very hot.  There's a big air space behind the stack, before you get to the glasspack.  You can put your hand directly on the 5" stack when it's fully warmed up.  I have used that many times to warm my hands, like at a stoplight, if I forgot my electric gloves.  You passenger WILL NOT be melting her shoes on your stacks, and you won't burn your leg.  And toddlers won't be burning their hands on the pretty pipes.

I have had a whole bunch goin on so they are only about 60% installed.  They look fantastic. Quality is great and they look so good I was just tempted to mount on the wall in the living room and decorated them for christmas lol.  I will be finishing up the install tomorrow or wednesday and I will post some photos when complete..

Thanks, everybody who posted.

Here's a recent shot of a crossover install.  Note this install is with a set of stock covers.  The crossover tube can be flexed until the clamps are secured - after they are tightened the tube is locked in place - it doesn't move.

Now here's a shot from a customer, with a Rivco stand and BigBF horns.  Note in the pic above, the crossover passes between the muffler cans, on their centerline.  In this pic, note the Rivco stops at a point below the muffler cans.  It looks like the crossover could also work with these horns, but they might need to be adjusted forward a little.
