A Republican, a Libertarian  and a Democrat were walking down the street when they passed a homeless man.  The Republican reached into his pocket and gave the man $20.  The Democrat, not to be out done reached into the Republican's pocket and gave the man $40.

The Libertarian opened his briefcase, and gave the man a job application.

I heard it a bit different.

A Libertarian, a Republican, and Democrat were walking down the street when they passed a homeless man.  The Republican patted the man on the back and promised not to raise  taxes.  The Libertarian congratulated the man on not conforming to the norm that everyone else lives indoors. And the Democrat asked the man for 20 bucks.

But that was probably the 1st Bush version of the joke.

I thought it went " the Democrat took $20 from the Republican's wallet and gave it to the homeless man"

Maybe I am in reality and not a joke.
