I'm posting this query on both boards.

Has anyone really compared (on a dyno) the Torque/HP between the TBR and Cobra 6x6s?
I can't believe that the TBRs make power compared to the Cobras.

Would be interesting to see. Most people are surprised when they find out that "noise does not equal power".  Shocked

You need some back pressure and proper scavenging of the cylinders to get more fuel/air in to make bigger explosions. cooldude

I know there are a lot of other factors so this not necessarily just pipes.  But, I rode a friends valk with TBR (I have Cobra) and mine seemed stronger.   Just sayin  Cry

Each Valkyrie is undoubtedly different.  To get an honest comparison you'd have to either have a large number of Valkyries in each configuration dynoed or you'd need to run dyno stats on the same bike under both configurations.

We have three Valkyries at my house.  We once had a fourth.  Mine has TBR 6X6 pipes.  It's a 2001 Standard.  My wife's has Cobra 6X6 pipes and is a 1998 Valkyrie Standard.  My Interstate has stock pipes but will one day soon have the TBR 6X2 that were on my former Interstate.

I've dynoed none of them.

My 2001 Standard will out pull the 1998 Standard, but gets slightly poorer fuel mileage.  My 1999 Interstate with the TBR canisters would outrun either of the Standards.  My current Interstate with the stock pipes is a pig.  It performs poorly and get horrible fuel mileage.  It still needs some work.

If you don't believe TBR 6X6 will out perform Cobra 6X6 you just haven't tried them both.  I have.

Incidentally, my former 1999 Interstate was acquired equipped with Cobras.

Which has higher decibel levels?  I've already lost way too much of my upper level hearing range due to poor decisions while test flying helicopters.  I can't afford to lose any more.  Constant ringing in my ears is annoying at least.  I would (just like everyone else) love to get better performance out of my Valk but not at the cost of additional hearing loss.

I'M SORRY, i COULDN'T QUITE HEAR YOU.  COULD YOU SPEAK UP PLEASE?    Grin

If your looking for more horses, the 6X6 of either type is not the way to go.  MarkTs or Vikings or TBR canisters with a crossover would be what you'd want.

When they were available, Cobra had a disclaimer on their website which warned the buyer they would lose horsepower with the Cobras.  TBR's website claimed a very slight performance improvement for their 6X6, but admitted it was primarily due to the reduction in weight.

Incidentally, if you're truly in the wind, the sound of the wind in your ears is louder than the sound of your pipes.

I had a set of Cobra's on MGM, butt dyno felt like it lost poop.

Switched them out for TBR's.   This set had a before and after dyno run.
Before was with Cobra's, HP 93 forgot torque but it was very low.

Went to a set of MarkT's glass paks, early ones, with the screw on adapter.
Dynoed at 96/86.

Changed them out for a set of Viking with an added crossover, and some added head work, ported & relieved.
Dynoed at 106/96.9.

Here is the crossover I built for the system..

This is the NASCAR pipes I built on the Chevy Trike.    Sanderson headers and from there to the rear was my work.

I used a 4" NASCAR muffler and welded the ends on it to adapt to the header and get the turnout.   The turnout is also labeled NASCAR.
