December Ride Report in Kansas
«
on:

Went to a Retired old motorcyclists eating out (Romeo) lunch ride yesterday, and took a little ride in the Flint Hills after. Kinda dreary and chilly, but I took a couple pics anyway.
Cathedral of the Flint Hills, Newbury, Ks
Hand laid stone fence, near Alma, Ks

In Kansas, in the early days, the government paid farmers about a dollar for every 29 ft of native stone fence they built to keep there livestock in and to clear the rocky ground for crop purposes. I know out west in the grazing areas they chiseled out stone fence posts due to the lack of trees for wooden fence posts. Next time I get out to western Kansas, I'll get a few pics, still a lot of them around, stone posts last a long time.
