There it is!!  How rare is that neon sign in my avatar? I found it on Craigslist and drove about 4 hours into Oh to get it. All before I even had a Valkyrie.
Anyway, Happy to be here. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions for you guys in the future.

Just Riding The Many Storms Of Life

Welcome to the club bro.  I bought my first Dragon on the 13th of November.  I can't ride yet due to previous promises and seat maintenance.  These people on this board and even in your area are very helpful.  I live in Fort Worth, Texas.  My wife and I drove 5 hours to Selma, Tx just north of San Antonio to see my bike at a dealership.  One of the members of the club just south of Houston, Tx rode over 225 miles, about 3 1/2 hours one way to help me look over the bike.  He has a Interstate like mine and he took it upon himself to help me.  I've never met him till I talked to him over the chat room.  He calls himself Hayhauler.  He along with others like JoevalkIS, Chrome, Rdkll and others talked me through everything and told me what to look for. This is the best club I've ever been a part of.  The bike is great.  She will give you many miles of happiness, as long as you take care of her. Let me be one of many others to welcome you here and if you need something do not hesitate to ask me(even I don't know much)or anyone on the board.  Be safe and God bless

Hope to see you at one of the many events this year You will love your Valkyrie

Pretty sure Joe and Highbinder will be doing a ride in Marlinton this spring again

You anywhere near west virgina?

We took 50 from Winchester to 219 south to Marlinton   It was the long way but terrific scenery and lots of twists and turns.  No traffic at all.  took 39 (4star road) to 220 to some  cool roads on our way to a stop to see family near  Baltimore

Southwest PA is some real nice riding country

Very rare indeed.  Is your I/S one of the rare color combos, as well?
Regardless, congrats the sign and the Valkyrie.

Got pics???

I've spent some time in Jimmy Stewart land and always found a great group of VRCC folks in the SW Pa. I'm sure they'll be ready to ride with you in the spring.
Ride safely.

Just as a point of information.

You might want to stay off her until Penn DOT sweeps the roads of the grit they put down over the winter. Just a helpful hint.

I'm on Valk #2, since the second nice day this spring.

How far south are you?

Welcome Aboard John....  Where is SW PA are you located?  I am in the Churchill/Forest Hills area.  I usually get a group of PA VTX Riders together once a month in the off season at Hooters.... we call it a "Give A Hoot"....  You and other Western PA Riders are welcome to attend the next "Give A Hoot" if you like.  Sometime in January will be the next one, usually on Thursday evenings (School Girl Night).  I will make a post here when it is scheduled.  PM me if you would like to get together.....

Wow, What a warm welcome. Let me answer some of your questions without "quoting" everyone.

Location- I am In the foothills here sort of between Greensburg and Latrobe and Mt.Pleasant.

The Valk is all black. I would love a Black and Yellow one, being a Pittsburgh fan, but I hear they are really rare in the I/S.  I'll get some pics posted as soon as I get it all detailed the way I want it.
The Original owner said he washed it after every ride, but I'm not so sure. Roll Eyes He had quite a few add-ons on it that I want to remove. It seems that aftermarket chrome doesn't hold up that well after 10 years. I haven't even told my close friends that ride that I have it yet. Can't let them see it till it's perfect you know. They mostly have Harleys. I had to get the Valk to keep up- I may have over shot my goal.  Cool

Local rides- I am ready to go. Just send me a PM with the time and place. I have had lots of projects the last few years and want to just relax and ride this year.(Might have something to do with getting older). Not sure about making it to Utah tho, But I'll try!

Hayhauler, Thanks for the links. I have been lurking on here for a while getting ideas and such.  Sounds like you did your good deed for the day. Helping Walt with his purchase. That's really what it's all about though, right?
If you really want a Valk you are probably going to have to drive a ways to look at them. Me and my wife drove to NJ to look at one at a Victory dealer.(Rollin Fast) It was about 5 hours one way. It looked good but would not idle so I passed on it. I wonder if anyone on here bought it? It was an all black I/S with blue lights up under the tank. Just curious if I missed a deal. I wasn't looking for a project right away. I was disappointed cause he told me on the phone it ran good.

Varmint, I'm afraid to ask what happened to #1. I'll have to look back through your posts and find out? I know all about the grit. Did an unexpected 180 in a CJ5 one year. It was an eye opener.

Pavalker- The Give a hoot sounds tempting. Let me know the details and I'll try to make it. The wife saw your avatar and did an "OMG"  Shocked  ... I think I sense a theme.  2funny
BTW. I saw a neon dealer sign like yours on craigslist recently. Was it yours? I thought about getting it but it was a little out of my price range right now.

What's black and yellow, sits by the side of the road, and sleeps six?  A Penn DOT truck, of course.

Welcome from another South Jersey rider.  Been here since 2000 and looking forward to the next 10 years.

You are just down RT30 a bit I think.  A few of us try to ride out there a few times during the year.    Will have to keep you in mind when riding weather comes back in season....  and when Steeler camp opens up again.

You are correct about having to take a road trip to get what ya want in a Valk... I went to Ohio, Maryland, almost went to Las Vegas, but finally picked mine up years ago in Little Rock Arkansas and rode it home.

Actually..... the avatar was a photo op during a bike trip to Myrtle Beach during Bike Week a few years ago.  The "Give A Hoot's" are just an opportunity for some of us to get together during the off riding season, share some conversation about bikes/upgrades or repairs/rides/etc and have a meal (and maybe a brew or two) with others of the same interests.  We have even been known to coordinate and plan a Tech Session or two.  Sometimes there have been wives/GFs in attendance as well.  We don't always hold em at Hooter's... but we haven't found many places with that kind of scenery....    Grin   It's not a theme.... not quite...    Wink

No that sign on Ebay is/was not mine.  I did have one, bought it locally had it for a year or so and took the photo op with it and my Valk ....then opted to sell it and share it with someone that wanted it more than me.  I think I listed and sold mine on the VOAI or even the classifieds here.  I would like to see a larger picture of your sign tho... I have seen that somewhere (probably on line).

6 Penn DOT workers got to the jobsite and piled out of the limo after breakfast. The driver looked around and asked where was Phil, as Phil was driving the tool truck that day. He called into the garage and got the supervisor. The supervisor told him that Phil called in sick and that he would just bring out the tool truck and to..

..........................

I had a incident where I started a skid when a truck was making a left on a blindish curve. He had a car behind him. I rear skidded, recovered, re skidded, front and rear, got the front settled down and decided to ride it out to the cars left side as the truck was turning. He saw me and stopped 1/2 way through his turn. I jacked it hard left to try to make the same parking lot that he was heading for, high sided. The bike hit the blacktop and I hit the truck.

John- I'm about 8 miles south of rt30 from Latrobe.  Definitely let me know when you're out this way and I'll tag along.

The day we went to NJ we also stopped on the way home to look at a Tourer model near York Pa. It was in the guys barn/garage and looked like it hadn't moved in 5 years. It had cobwebs from the tires to the floor! He had medical issues and hadn't ridden in a while. It was a long unproductive day.

I think I have a pic of the neon. I have black paper behind it and did some editing to get rid of the framework.

Varmint- Sorry to hear about your incident. Hope you're all right.

Hmmmm... yea, the weather here has a tendency to interfere with my riding to. Snowing here the last few days.  Snow, ice, salt and slush don't make for good riding weather.....
