Hello,

1 big point to consider when purchasing carb sync tools is that you have to be able to "see" all 6 carbs.

So the system with 6 gauges will do, as all carbs are connected to each other: when you change the setting of 1 carb it will affect the others: so with a 6-gauge tool you see what you do.

All other systems are not good to adjust the beast.

Do they sell them with six gauges or do you have to build yourself?

I have never seen an affordable 6-gauges machine to adjust vacuum on the market, Carbtune and the others on the market have only 4 or 2 gauges.

That is the reason why I made a 6-gauge myself- not hard to do - results are good.

On this board do a search on carb synchronisation - then you will find much photo's and details of home-made synchro-tools for the beast.

Success !

(when I let my (d)stealer do the synchronisation and I drove back home, then I did not feel any differences except that I was lighter in money..... when I perform it myself with my six-machine, then it is noticible - smoother and sits more on the throttle (better response) - SO DO IT YOURSELF !!) cooldude

Don't have a picture of mine, but it is 6 guage on a piece of plywood.

The snubber part Ricky-d refers to I used a shut off valve, brass, to shut down the rapid flexibility of the guage.   It is just a water line shutoff valve, I picked it out of some ice cube kits that had been tossed out by the refrigerator store behind us and we grabbed ahold of them.

I can't get a picture cause it is at the shop and I'm on a 40' hose, home bound.   They have deserted me until midnight, then I get company till 8:00 AM.     LOL.... 2funny tickedoff coolsmiley angel Cry

I fail to see how the carbs can affect one another if you follow the procedure in the tech manual. Once #1 and #5 are set to #3 how does that setting change. Then you set #2, #4 and #6 to #3 just asking.

Technically there are real carb-gurus on this board who can explain you exactly how the 6 carbs interfere to each other - I only know that they are connected to each other and when you change the setting of 1 then you will SEE on your 6 gauges that the others change also. tickedoff

Once you have synchronized with a 6 gauge-tool that is really sensitive, then you will find out for yourself that it is not so evident as you thought, because you will have to do the round of the 5 carbs to synchronize many times before the result is +/- like you want it. Grin

Synchronizing the carburetors is not as simple and as easy as some would have you think!

It gets confusing as to which way to turn the adjusting screws and monitoring the idle is a constant pain in the ass!

All the time watching the temperature of the motor so the fan will not energize.

The first time I did it, I was ready to blow the bike to pieces it was so frustrating! So the first time, when I got the synchronization barely acceptable, I settled for that!

The next time was more successful since I was aware of the pitfalls. At least a little better that the first time.

A good fan that will keep the motor at a constant temperature is imperative. Having the radiator fan keep turning off and on will skewer the results and cause havoc in your attempts to get it right!

Drool! Very nice! I have the gauges and now wish to clone this set-up. Did you fabricate this? It looks live a few aluminum angles riveted inside a solid trunk. Is that right? Any insight would be appreciated!
Thanks! cooldude

I've tried to stay out of this, guess I can't.. It appears I'm the only one that uses a single plain plain vacuum gauge.. Some tubing, a ' T ' , forceps is all thats needed.. I certainly can't blame anyone for wanting or needing more tools or gadgets, its only human, but, I'm trying to get rid of gadgets cuz I gottz too many..

Are they just a liquid filled vacuum gauge?

Here is what I came up with using Ricky-D gauge setup as my model. I decided to buy 1 extra gauge just incase I got a bad one.

I think mine cost less than $45-50 and that included the Cool flame duct tape, got the gauges off of eBay check out Ricky's link for the gauges and I used 1/4" vinyl tubing from hardware store and vaccum line from auto store then a plastic 1/4" - 5/32" vaccum adpaters to about a foot of 5/32" vaccum line..    I later after synch I ganged all my vaccum ports like Dag had done and it did seem to even further the vaccum pulses I will add a one way check valve that will then feed my audiovox cruise control. To do the gang setup i got a few brass "T" fittings from fish store and an automotive vaccum cap on third leg of the Brass "T".

I still need to add easier to user regulater or snubbed to slow down gauges reaction (needle bounce) from vaccum pulses.
