When mine broke at the lever on the handlebars, I just replaced the single cable with an OEM from HDL.  Current price is $17.44 plus handling fee.

Not very hard to replace.

I broke the right side cable a while back, still starts fine, I'll get to it one of these days, gonna get up a big order from HDL after the holidays. Hoser

Here's what I did when I installed HD handlebars and controls, which obviously means I lost the choke control on top. The first pic is a work in progress. The second is the completed setup. It's solid, the only cable is the one crossing over to the right side which doesn't seem to have as much stress on it as the one coming from the control lever. I always felt the OEM method was about as lousy a system as the OEM petcock. Just before I made the change, mine also broke and I never bothered to fix it. My present setup works great and will hold any position you put it in.
