OK Folks, the conversation of miles vs repairs came up again the other day.
For those who would like to enter their information, it would be interesting to see the mileage on the Valk's with repair history.

Thanks and Merry Christmas Smiley

Two '99 Interstates: (38K and 58K)

Not failed, but both Progressive Susp 13" 440s rear, fork springs front (w all new wear parts)
One rear wheel bent, Pinwall replacement wheel got new OE rear bearings.
One left rear wheel bearing failure, replaced with OE single row in Bumfok WVa, later did double row left as preventative.
One Ujoint failure, replaced, pinion and cup fine, double row left wheel bearing mod done as preventative.
One battery replaced, I believe other is original (BatTenders 24 X 7 year-round on both)
Many tires, new F6C wheel dampeners on both, new Anchor 90* billet valve stems, brake pads
Multiple H4 fairing bulbs.

Complete desmog is intended, but not completed.  All routine maintenance is done, and I have no vacuum leaks, no petcock problems, no charging problems.

99 tourer, 78k miles, only routine maintenance except for one left rear wheel bearing.  Lost it near Lacrosse enroute to IZ10.  Cost me 250 bux including the trailer that fetched me in,  I was back on the road in three hours.  I also replaced the battery a couple years ago.  To me that is routine maintenance though.  cooldude hoser

97 Green/Creme Tourer
Bought new - April 97 13 miles on it.
Currently 242,000 + change for miles

Repairs:

Rear punkin replaced under warranty due to dealer failure to service hub correctly on tire replacement.

Was laid up in Wyoming for 3 days while dealer was trying to get parts.   This was a dealer on the road, was on a big long trip.   Dealer gave me a 93 Gold Wing to use while waiting.

The above dealer installed my Cobra Lightbar I bought off of him while waiting on rear end parts.     That fried the headlight circuit in the headlight.    I was in New Mexico then.      Was at a nice little auto repair shop, and he let me use a stall to repair it myself.      It got a relay installed that time.    Plus it got tied into the circuit so the lights would go out when ya hit the starter button.

These lights being installed poorly, I'm blaming on my starter relay being fried.

Repair parts used from an older Gold Wing instead of replacing all of the wiring loom.

left  side front wheel bearing.

Steer head bearings got dimpled in Florida at Bike Week.   Fixed it when we got home.

Clutch at 60K, but it had been abused by the owner, namely ME.
Other than a bunch or tires, all the rest was just normal maintenance.

That is pretty much it for the old boy.  He is bullet proof. tickedoff 2funny cooldude

97 Standard, 85,000 miles. I have mostly tried to replace parts before they broke. Haven't been stuck along the side of the road so far. Starter relay burned and almost stranded me. Angle sensor connection almost did the same. Shifter seal had to be replaced due to leak. Replaced fork seals and bushings due to leaks on both forks.

I replaced the oem battery when it was 11 years old. Still worked great, just made me nervous. Replaced coolant reserve tank due to crack and leak. Have replaced fork springs and shocks with progressives, 440's in the back.

Have replaced all vac. and fuel lines, brake pads several times, timing belts, rebuilt petcock, steering stem bearings, all wheel bearings and seals. Dampeners, all bulbs before they went out. Alternator brushes were worn bad and needed replaced at 70,000.

Have replaced splines and drive shaft with better used parts once.

Lots of tires & brake pads. Wink

I have an '03 Standard, 30k miles and have done the following:

two sets of brakes front & rear
three sets of tires
wheel dampers (probably not needed)
shock bushings
replaced busted throttle side grip
soon to replace starter switch & cables (poor contacts, going with an IS version)
probably do a carb synch this winter or spring

Usually normal maintenance when tire changed.  I just went for a 30 mile ride in between snow/rain storms here and that starter switch is going to strand me someplace if not fixed.  Other than that the bike runs really good (I do have the IS-ICM and IS carb springs).

After reading all the other post I remembered I also replaced the fork seals around 50k and replaced the grips because the throttle grip broke where it held the cable on.
