There was a bill board on my way home that I would see with the valkyrie on it, and it would advertise the F6 engine, I would say to myself “why would you want a 6 cylinder engine on a motor cycle??”
Yeah, yeah, yeah, live and learn…….

Well it is cool slide, but Flat Trackers and Dirt Track cars still do that today.
The car drifting craze hit a few years back with movies like Tokyo Drift.
First thing that came to my mind since I was off bikes for 18 years was who would
want to slide a big bike like that on dirt.
Not many is the answer.
Sales were not that good and probably because it had not carved out a niche as of then.
Well we all know that it really caught on with us , but Honda did not commit to a long term
relationship with the Valk, only hit and miss, thus the RUNE later,
97- 2003 and only 3 years with all three models available,
that would be hit and run by any stretch of the imgination.
They should have stuck with the program and with fuel injection and a few tweeks
like a bigger engine in the original configuration and who knows .
But we never will, just enjoy the bikes we have left.
Good thing they last a good long time.

I never heard that either. what is a fact is that he rode the 01 GL1800 on stage at the 2000 honda dealer meeting in Vegas. He also shot some commercials riding a yellow wing as well.

We cant have adds like that in Australia.
Apparently, it is politically incorrect to show burnouts, fast driving or anything other than sedate AND SLOW MANUVERING TACTICTS.
The wowsers have won over here.
One recent add showing a Merc or BMW sliding around a factory floor making art, was considered so bad that they protested abot it.
Its a wonder we can even ride bikes down under. BLOODY WOWSERS

Feel for you Woody.
We don't call them Wowsers, but we have the same diseased individuals in this country. Should be a bounty on their scalps. Wowser was originally a slang expression, most commonly heard in Australian and New Zealand English. It originated in Australia, at first carrying a similar meaning to 'lout', i.e. an annoying or disruptive person, or even a prostitute. In around 1900 it shifted to its present meaning: one whose sense of morality drives them to deprive others of their sinful pleasures, especially liquor. The term was particularly applied to members of temperance groups such as the antipodean branches of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union.
South Australians claim the present meaning originated from a temperance slogan there, "We Only Want Social Evils Remedied."[1] However John Norton (January 25, 1858 - April 9, 1916), editor of the scandal-magazine Truth, claimed he first used the word in 1899.[2] "Wowser" was frequently used by artist and author Norman Lindsay, who fought many battles with "Wowsers" over the sexual content in his art and writing.
The Australian writer C.J. Dennis defined it thus: 'Wowser: an ineffably pious person who mistakes this world for a penitentiary and himself for a warder'. Historian Stuart Macintyre argues, "the achievements of the wowsers were impressive;" they passed laws that restricted obscenity and juvenile smoking, raised the age of consent, limited gambling, closed down many pubs, and in 1915-16 established a 6pm closing hour for pubs, which lasted for decades.[3

I tried that on the Tourer. She aint a CRF250R but, it was surprisingly easy.ONCE. Kevin Bloody Wilson has a good song refrencing wowsers. And alot of good songs, period. I've had to pull over because I was laughing too hard to drive.

I still have the original ad for the 1983 V-65 Magna. The first thing it shows is the burnout at a dragstrip. It only aired for about a month or less before the FCC took it off the air because it promoted the idea of speed.
I also have the commercial from Honda. I sweet talked one of the Honda dealerships into letting me borrow the video to copy. I still have it on VHS. It talks about the entire line in '83. When I saw the Valkyrie for the first time I fell in love. I even had the chance to ride one of the first ones that came to Dallas on a test ride. If I would have had the money back then, well the Fat Lady would have had a lot of miles. It took me a few years but I got here as soon as I could.
