Good information Joe. My concern would be, what does one do when traveling in the states that are heavely laiden with E85 stations. The research that I have done shows states just west of the Great Lakes region are E85 rich, lead by Minnesota with 378 stations. There are others with 100-200 stations. The Valks are not Flex fuel bikes as I know it, although I have run E85 in Colorado with no ill affects. Long term storage is not an issue here, our winters are short or non at all, although there are days you may feel are just to chilly to ride.

We have all been running E10 for some time, the worst think you should notice would be a slight decrease in fuel economy, unless you have a a really old motorcycle with polymers (gaskets O rings) that are not ethanol resistant, older ones may swell.

Never run E85 in a non-flex fuel vehicle.  It will run about 30% lean @ full E85 content.

The E10 is really not a big deal.

I don't have any problems with E10 and have been running it since the late '70s.  I probablly won't have any problems with E15 when it is put in use.  Back in the '50s & '60s, in the Dakotas, we added alcohol to the fuel in the winter time to prevent gas line freeze.  With the advent of E10 in the late '70s, the need to add alcohol was not necessary and our fuel systems ran cleaner because of it.

I thought the same thing.  There are 2 posts on this topic, one on the general board and one on the tech board.

What you were running in colorado was probably 85 octane, E85 is 85% alcohol, which will have negative results.  85 octane is regular grade in higher elevations, it may be up to 10% alcohol, or have none at all. Since alcohol adds octane, I would assume that it has no alcohol.  Lower octane fuel is more effecient at higher altitudes, or so they say. Hoser

Because it was entirely a political view and had little or nothing to do with the Tech topic posted.

Probably should happen a lot more often.
