A company is again selling the now-discontinued audiovox ccs-100 cruise control unit that many people use on their Valks. There was a pre-order last summer and they are now available for purchase for everyone at $170 (or a little cheaper if you were part of the pre-order). I just ordered mine and will be working on the install this spring. Maybe we can arrange a wrench party for some of us to get these installed?

Thanks for the post Nitro. Do you need the vac canister and/or the relay?

Thank you and Merry Christmas,

I love the warning

(It was never marketed nor endorsed as a motorcycle cruise control. It is not a simple plug and play installation for motorcycles. If you choose to use this product for this application, do so with the knowledge and understanding that you are accepting 100% of the responsibility for your decisions and actions.)

But I want one uglystupid2

Will I ever get done on adding things to her?

Do NOT use a vac cannister.  Not needed.  Just install and use a tee into a couple of the vac lines.  Works perfect.

Anybody who wants one of these should jump all over this. Second best thing I ever installed on my motorcycle (Russell Daylong seat #1). Excellent item for those long days.

I've wanted to get one of these for years. Never did because I wouldn't want to attempt to do the install myself.

Is there anyone in SC that would be willing to do the install for me?

well, NITRO and I might be coming to that area this summer for the VOIA get together, that is, if for some reason I can put my riding ahead of my family…… maybe we can do it for you then??  DON’T HOLD YOUR BREATH THOUGH!!  I was quite amazed I went to Inzane last year!!

By the way, does anyone know if that website NITRO listed is showing the complete cruise control unit?  It looks like it’s missing some parts to me???  I’m sure I’ll be having to make some brackets for mounting stuff on the cycle, just want to start planning ahead….

Looks like its all there. You dont use all of the parts. Maybe not even half of them.

Looks like a very easy install!!  Shouldn’t take too much to do.  Karsten, I’ll make some stainless steel brackets for the head unit.  Since I’ve got my cycle torn apart right now, I’ll look for a good spot for the servo assembly.

You use about 1/3 of the parts, alph.  Also, I installed the servo inside the fairing, up front, below the headlights.  Tied to the brace.  Fits nice.  Then, ran the cable out the right side, back, then straight across the carb bank, coming in from the right.

Do you have an installation manual MP? I did a search here and found this link: http://www.valkyrieriders.com/shoptalk/cruise-control.htm

It shows making a vac cannister and mounting the servo under the seat. Your plan of no vac cannister and mounting the servo in the Interstate fairing sounds like a very good plan. I haven't attempted this install yet and just may have to wait for help from those who are much better at these things than I am.

I purchased the unit from Murphkits via the link Nitro posted. Thank you Nitro!  cooldude

Iv'e installed 4 of the older style units two I/Ss and two tourers. I've found by using a cannister things seem to work better. I mounted the two interstates servos and cannisters  up under the fairing. The tourers in tool box area behind battery and the cannister on one under the swingarm using 1 1/2 PVC tubing and an old chevy chrome coil cover and mount and one of the tourers we just mounted the cannister in the valve of the engine with wire ties. Also I used checks in the lines from each of the vac ports to keep the vac from pulling from each  other.

Mr. B,

I think KingBee may have posted a picture of a PVC vac cannister and Audiovox servo mounted behind the Interstate fairing. Don't suppose you have any plans to be in the Chicago area do you??? Grin

I've got the Audiovox Cruise on my STD. Let me know if you'd like something to look at when you're installing yours. I'm only about 45 minutes away!

I did NOT use a canister.  I tee'd into two of the unused lines.  Be sure to put the check valve BEFORE the tee, ie on each hose to the intake runner.  I have an 02 interstate, with the sidecar.  It works fine with the sidecar, which burns almost TWICE as much fuel as otherwise, and it holds speed fine.

Alright, here’s what I did;

Mounted my control unit like this

My servo unit like this,

My linkage tied onto the throttle bar with the shoulder bolt and nut provided with the kit.  I drilled and threaded the bolt onto the bar, 4mmx70 thread.

Servo cable goes through bracket, down and around under carburetor controls.  I placed my fuel tank on to make sure it works, everything clears nicely.
